Lol.. true that ..But a letter from representative may help...??

Unless you personally are close to them and they've been closely involved in your life since your relationship started, a random doctor/representative/congressman knows no better of how genuine your relationship is than USCIS does. Won't help.

Our CR1 Journey:

USCIS Stage:

  • Feb 14 2019: NOA1 (NSC)
  • July 31 2019: I129f NOA1
  • Sep 19 2019: I129f NOA2 (Denied - 50 days from NOA1)
  • Sep 19 2019: I130 NOA2 (Approved - 217 days from NOA1)

NVC Stage:

  • Sep 27 2019: Sent to Department of State
  • Oct 31 2019: Case number received (34 days since sent)
  • Nov 1 2019: IV & AOS fees received & paid
  • Nov 14 2019: IV & AOS submitted
  • Dec 18 2019: All docs accepted, but one additional doc requested (5 weeks from submission)
  • Dec 18 2019: Requested doc submitted
  • Feb 19 2020: Documentarily Qualified (9 weeks from 2nd submission, 14 weeks from first submission)

Interview Stage:

  • Mar 11 2020: Interview letter received
  • Apr 1 2020: Interview date
  • Mar 17 2020: Interview cancelled due to COVID-19
  • August 3 2020: Rescheduled letter received, new appointment August 25 2020
  • August 25 2020: Visa approved at interview! (558 days from NOA1)
  • September 10 2020: Embassy received passport in mail
  • September 15 2020: Passport with visa in hand

October 11 2020: Arrived in US!

This is from Hank, we had this conversation before..

The affidavit doesn't need to be anything complicated, just states the facts.

"To whom it may concern;

I, NAME, am NAME RELATION (Brother, Sister, Friend, Coworker, Etc.) and have known him/her/them for XX years. I am writing this letter to attest to the validity of the Marriage between NAME and NAME. I have been a witness to their relationship since they (Dated/were engaged/Got Married/While they were married) and they are truly in love.

Regards,

(Signature)                                        Date

@beatbaba Type "I130" in google and go to the official page where the form is. Under the section "Checklist of Required Initial Evidence" it talks about the affidavit.

Those are examples. In practice, they have very little to no real value (as noted, there is no way to verify their accuracy, nobody submits a negative one, and literally anybody can submit one).

The notary only verifies the signature and makes no comment on the statement.  That is one reason affidavits carry such little weight.  They are not sworn so there is no chance of perjury.  I will have a statement notarized that says I am Santa Clause.  The statement isn't worth the cost of the paper it is on.

PHILIPPINES ONLY!!!  CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) INFO - Can't leave home without it!

PDOS (Pre-Departure Registration and Orientation Seminar) is for ages 20-59.  Peer Counseling is for 13-19 years of age.

It is required to have the visa in their passport for PDOS and Peer Counseling.

GCP (Guidance and Counseling Program) is for K-1 Fiancee and IR/CR-1 spouse ONLY.

@geowrian I was just answering the original post/question, about simple letters. I simply referred to what the website says the third party affidavits attesting to the marriage should cover. They may not provide much according to what you said but someone should provide it anyway in the package and have more than less. Anyone should submit it and then let the reviewing officer determine it’s worthless than assume it’s worthless and not have it and the case doesn’t get approved.
