What does this mean???

Hello everyone

My fiance had her interview in Costa Rica last Monday and they said she was approved, on Wednesday she had to come in once again to take her fingerprint since the CO forgot to ask these back in her interview...

Fast forward to today and the CEAC website still shows this and the case hasn't been touched since last wednesday, we're really worried that they forgot about her visa or something since most people in CR get their visas very fast... mothers day is fast approaching there too on August 15th but still...

What is going on? Should we be worried & call the embassy??

Since It changed to nonimmigrant it means the interviewer completed their initial review and sent it to the NIV unit for final processing

YMMV

Is this normal though?

We heard that the next step would be administrative processing but it's still stuck on Application Received for almost over a week...

It's not "normal", but it's not unheard of. Our case was sitting in non-immigrant application received for about ten days in Moscow for no obvious reason... then flipped to administrative processing one evening (Moscow time) and Anastasia's visa was Issued the next morning.

Thank you!

This calms us down a little knowing that it has happened to others yet we still wonder what could be causing all this delay as most people over there get their visas in 5 to 7 days...

We have faith that hopefully next week it switches to AP since perhaps there has been some sort of internal issue going on at the embassy this week or something...

Just another glaring example of a worn-out dilapidated system that is in dire need of a serious overhaul, and I am not speaking about detention and enforcement.
