I'm an American citizen and my fiancée is Chinese. We've applied for the K1 visa and she will be having her interview in a couple of weeks. We only speak Chinese as she doesn't know any English , I heard this wasn't a problem but could it be a problem for the interview considering we're not the same race ?

Chinese is fine at her K-1 interview, as interviewers ask the fiance if they prefer english or local language to conduct interview.  As far as the AOS interview, a translator would be ideal.  It might be possible that you can translate for her at the AOS interview, I'm not sure though...

Lots of LPRs don't speak the local language in the US which is English.  This is why they are allowed to bring a translator to their AOS interview.  Speaking English is not a requirement to immigrate to the US.

Completely agree, but it is a requirement for naturalization if someone chooses to pursue that route.

In general, at the AOS stage you should have an impartial interpreter.

How old was the gentleman? There is a exception to that rule for those who are senior citizens

Find that hard to believe being English is taught in school ..  I know with my nephews as each started school it wasn't long after that they were talking to me in English and not Tagalog.      I can see where many older people would not speak English, I have a couple aunts that don't.

But for the most part only ones that have issue with speaking English are those that don't use it .. you know the saying - Use it or Lose it.

Interesting.

I haven't bumped into many that don't speak English around Manila ...  or as far north as Alaminos

From reading the articles it sounds similar to schools in the states where kids refuse to learn .. and of course it bites them in the azz later

While I have been visiting the Philippines ( approximately 10 years ago ) everyone has been so good in English, many Norwegian men are married with ladies from there and they all speak good English .

English is my second language but still people here ( we live near a small town) ask me about my accent.

I wish all the luck to OP- s fiancé.

Because when we began dating language wasn't a barrier. It was much easier for us to conduct our life in Chinese. We initially didn't have plans to have our life in the US but things change. She can't speak English yeah it's a minor inconvenience, but in the same way I learned Chinese while being in China, she will learn English while being in the US.

My husband doesn’t speak English yet either! It’s a learning process and we communicate in his language just fine happily here in the USA!! The USA is a mix of people and English certainly isn’t a requirement. I find it funny that the person who didn’t want to offend you, doesn’t even know how to properly spell “offense” ! Good luck in your process!

Sadly, TN doesn't care about the proper English lol so gotta be careful and pass the naturalization/citizen test.

Luckily my husband knows English very well and doesn't know the TN's redneck sayings.

I kinda wonder what's the point of having LPRs who don't speak the local language (I mean no offence to anybody!).

The “point” is probably something along the lines of they are in love and want to be together in the United States? This isn’t really offensive so much as it’s baffling why you wouldn’t understand why they wouldn’t want to wait until she learns English to settle in together.

Leaning a new language to a conversational level can take a lengthy amount of time. Expecting people to put their relationships on hold when they have the absolute right to relocate here before then is... an interesting take.
