3. I'm eligible for Italian citizenship. If I'm an Italian citizen, does the process get somewhat expedited to bring her?

No.

You mentioned you wanted to care for her but you mentioned her coming here to work. If she’s needing care, can she work? It would also bring into the discussion the whole issue of healthcare costs and the public charge concern.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

I'm very confused - I arrived at the US in April 2016, got my greencard in the mail in July 2016. This year, in February 2019, I got the permanent 10 year green card. When can I file for citizenship? Isnt it 5 years from July 2016?

So your 5 years starts July, 2016

2021 you can file for citizenship, after which you can sponsor your parent

Hi All,

I'm a single child, and my mom is a single mother. I recently got my permanent residency approved, and received my 10 year green card a few months back. I want to bring my mom to live here in the US with me, she's completely alone in Brazil (our home country), and I miss her so dearly, I want to bring her so I can take care of her.

1. With my permanent resident status, can I bring her?

2. I moved to the US with a K-1 visa, but got divorced before I got my I-751 filed. Can I apply for my citizenship in 2019 (after living here for 3 years) or do I need to wait until my 5 year anniversary? I came to the US for marriage, but I'm no longer married to the same guy - Im engaged to another american citizen now.

3. I'm eligible for Italian citizenship. If I'm an Italian citizen, does the process get somewhat expedited to bring her?

4. Could I bring her as a student so  she can spend some time here? My fiance owns a business, could we sponsor her so she can come as an employee and work with him like his secretary?

5. For parents, is it true the processing time is about 8 years?

1. No

2. 5 years from the date on your original GC

3. What does another country have to do with US immigration laws?

4. Student and work visas don't work like that. Transitioning from a student to work visa happen to very specific groups of people. Work visas require proof the foreigner needs to be hired because they possess skills that other Americans do not have. They're not gonna be convinced of that for secretary work.

5. Yeah it's pretty long and the other thing is that the parent category may even be completely eliminated. It's hard to say but anything's up for major changes with the US government right now.

You said you entered the US on a K1 visa, these dates seem very quick to go from a K1 through AOS to GC (3 months).  Are you sure the dates are correct, or did you enter on a spousal visa?  Regardless, as others have said you now fall under the 5 year rule which allows you to file the N400 5 years from the "Resident Since" date on your green card less 90 days.  Then the day after your oath ceremony (or in reality a few days later), you can file the petition for your mother.

Good Luck!

op, you can bring your mother when you become a naturalized US citizen. Or you can just relocate to Brazil to be with her so she does not feel alone, and you won't miss her as you'll be right there with you, and you can also take care of her.
