Rescheduling to earlier appointment after VAC confirmation?

My fiance and I are going through the K1 visa process and are close to the end. My fiance lives in New Delhi, India and when we finally received our package in June and tried to schedule an appointment, the earliest we could get one for was August 14th. We scheduled it and have gone through everything and are pretty much ready for the interview. I opened the appointment site today to print his appointment confirmation and saw that they had an appointment open up for August 2nd!

That is too early for us as he has to travel to Mumbai for his appointment but I was wondering if anyone had rescheduled to an earlier appointment? My only concern is that when he did his VAC appointment they put a code on his passport corresponding to the August 14th appointment date.
