1-131 why do people spend extra money.when they don't need to?

I know this is just in case they have to leave for family reasons and go back home, but is it really necessary?  If she doesn't have close family or anything left over seas its just better to wait for the green card.   For some of us $575 extra dollars could be spend for the future.

I am in the process of an AOS was wondering for those who did the I-131 is it necessary or I can totally skip this form?

Because there's no fee for the I-131 or I-765 when filed alongside or due to an I-485.

Edit: Also, it's not just for emergencies - it can be used for vacations as well.

Ah that make sense, so mailing all 3 together you only pay the AOS form fee approx 1230 including the medical.  Am I understanding this correctly?

Thanks for the info

You can send all 3 forms together (I-485 packet (meaning the I-864 and such too), I-131, and I-765). The only fee would be the fee for the I-485 ($1225 total for most cases). The other forms have no added fee.

The K-1 process is more complicated than AOS.

You can do it. You showed that you have some attention to detail, you did the I-129F petition. Here is your reading/study material necessary to successfully submit your AOS.

You don't have to pay for another medical if you already had a medical overseas within a year of filing for AOS. As a K-1 you had an overseas medical.

As a K-1 you only pay for the i-485 and biometrics. A total of $1225 for a non-senior adult person.

As others already said, the AP and EAD are for free. There's no reason not to file for them when you file for AOS.

And yes, AOS is like a walk in the park compared to the i-129f and K-1.

K-1: 12-22-2015 - 09-07-2016

AP: 12-20-2016 - 04-07-2017

EAD: 01-18-2017 - 05-30-2017

AOS: 12-20-2016 - 07-26-2017

ROC: 04-22-2019 - 04-22-2020
Naturalization: 05-01-2020 - 03-16-2021

U.S. passport: 03-30-2021 - 05-08-2021

I concur with the others. We did the entire process from I-129f through naturalization without an attorney; many thanks to the Visa Journey community for great tips and guidance.

I have seen a case where this couple live in a border state (Washington or Michigan or something like that) and they were just driving around town, they got lost and somehow went down a road that crossed the border. When they realized, they already left the US, so they turned around and immediately were grabbed to CBP secondary. They spent hours and hours there. I believe eventually they were let go, only because they did not enter Canada or went through Canadian border checkpoint.

This is just my opinion. Even if you have familial reason to use the advanced parole having it is helpful for potential vacations or other emergencies overseas. With no added cost, I would do it.

Now here is something I was wondering about. My fiance and her children had their medical and their biometrics completed prior to their interview! Will they have to get new biometrics when they arrive here?
