K1 Visa Form I-485 fee

Hello, I found that the fee we will need to pay for the I-485 is $1,225. This is the filing fee for the form. I read if it is approved less than 2 years into the marriage, my fiance gets a conditional green card for 2 years. Then, form I-751 needs to be filed 90 days before the conditional green card expires. The filing fee for this for is an additional $595. This is a total of $1,820 because we used a K1 Visa? What happens at this point? Do we file another I-485 plus $1,225, or is this the purpose of the I-751? Also, Employment authorization documents cost $485 to get processed, so that is yet another fee so $2,305? Thank you.

I believe that employment authorization can be filed concurrently with the Form I-485 for no additional charge. The I-751 would be filed after 2 years, but not another I-485. The USCIS website should be able to give you all the instructions on the various forms. Have you checked there?

 

Overall you are looking at additional filing fees over $2K. Immigration is not cheap : )

the k1 is only to enter the country to marry, there is no GC at this point

 

after marriage you will file the adjustment of status, the work and travel permits don't cost anything when sent with the i485, so the cost is waived, you don't need to pay for the i765 or i131. there is no adjustment of status after the removal of conditions', since your spouse will be a US Resident

 

before the 2 year gc expires, your spouse must prove once again that your marriage is bonafide to get the 10 year GC. he or she sends the form with the evidence. if all goes well, your spouse will get the 10 year GC

The fee for the I-751 is $680.........That is for the I-751 plus biometrics fee.

There is also an $85 biometrics fee which must be paid along with the I-751 fee.......

yup, and when she decides to naturalize, apply for citizenship, there will be a biometric fee for the N400

 

so another biometrics for citizenship

Yes.......the immigration process requires a great deal of knowledge, planning, time, patience, and money........good luck.

everything you need to do will incur a fee. sometimes pretty hefty ones.

 

hope you have a good job. this is not a cheap process.

There wasn't one for the I-129F 

 

But pretty much every form that changes your spouse's (you'll have to be married before you can start the next step, so they won't be your fiance(e) anymore) immigration status requires new biometrics, and they charge for it.
