Just wondering a quick question. Other than changing the obvious in red to what you need to change to, on the example documents from the K-1 Visa guide, what more should I/do I need to change on the 'Cover Letter' and 'Original Statements' provided by the guide?

And just a second question I just thought of - how many of yall would recommend a immigration lawyer, even if you follow the guidelines to a 'T'?

It takes a fair bit of reading to educate yourself in this process, but it's worth every second. Start now so that you don't need to hire a lawyer every step of the way. Save yourself $1000s, it's very rewarding.

How much  time are you willing to commit to becoming educated on the process?  Guides are only a small part of a successful journey

I've already spent the past month or 2 reading up as much as I can about the Visa and process, so I have no problem reading more. I also I have gone through the checklist thrice over and triple checked that so I know all that I have to file, and have even started putting the package together. We are planning to file around April of next year (planning on a Feb 2021 Marriage so taking timelines into account with a little prayer and luck), so I have time to read plenty more information.

You also need to educate yourself on the oddities of the interviewing consulate.   Once the petition is approved, the process varies, sometimes drastically,  by location.   It would be good if you updated your profile with a location

YMMV

But, it's not that hard. Payxibka and I have both done it more than once successfully))))))

Alrighty, so with enough understanding, one can do okay with out a lawyer? How would you know if you are at that level?

Secondly, can someone comment on the first half of the post - do I need to modify the example documents, outside of what is in red and provide more information than listed in the documents?

It appears that you can write complete sentences and read well enough. You are more than qualified))). You don't need a lawyer. Just substitute your information for the information in the example forms. It really isn't that difficult. Just takes some attention to detail. ability to follow directions and patience. If you have questions specific to the process in Manila there are many helpful people in the Philippines regional forum here that are willing to help.

You don't need to modify more than the red.

You don't get any extra credit for providing more than the required evidence

YMMV

Not trying to rain on your parade, just the reality of the immigration situation. You should never make any plans, or book any flights, or make any nonrefundable reservations/commitments that are dependent on you or a loved one receiving a visa. You should only make plans after you have the passport in your hand and the valid visa is in the passport.  There are far too many variables in these processes to be able to predict/plan anything with any kind of certainty. There are many postings of unfortunate circumstances that have derailed well made plans.

YMMV

Good luck on your immigration journey.
