Tourist Visa followed by Student visa F1

Hi All,

My uncle and his family planning a tourist visa this month where his B1/B2 was rejected once back in 2013.

Details; My Uncle's visa was rejected once back in 2013.

Present: they are applying again for 3 persons - My uncle, My Aunt and their son (my cousin)

interest: My cousin would be applying student visa later this year or early next year.

We questions is : what if their tourist visa B1/B2 rejected , will it impact anything on my cousin's student visa ?

Would it make more sense to apply tourist visa just for my uncle and aunty this time so my cousin's passport will not get the rejection mark (if get rejected) as he will go with F1 visa soon.

Appreciate any help/advice

Thanks

It is all about showing non-immigration intent to official and the reason for denial of B1/B2 visa is (normally) immigration intent found. Unless the circumstances have been changed (significantly), outcome will be the same.

#1. Yes, previous denials have some impact on future non-immigration visa application.

#2. Your uncle and aunt can definitely apply first to see if they can get approved.

Regarding your cousin’s, if F-1 visa is what he really wants, then he can wait and apply for F-1 when it is right time for him.  if his tourist gets denied now, his near-future F-1 visa application will probably get denied too.

Whoever wishes to visit may apply. All B2 applications are considered independent, whether they interview together or individually.

A b2 rejection doesn't necessarily impact a future F1, but a b2 denial due to immigrant intent, reduces the odds of an F1. Is the cousin in India?  And why does OP's signature show filed for H1b visa?
