There should be no such line on the SSN card for a permanent resident (which a CR-1 is when they get here and get their SSN card).

Thanks JFH for the quick response.

Since I did not request for a new card on DS-260, any idea how I can get a new card without that new line?  Did I go to the SSN office to ask for a new card?

Thanks again

go into the SS office and request an updated card.

You don’t need a new number - 1 SSN for life. The DS-260 question is for people who have never had an SSN prior to immigration. So you just need to go to an SSA office with proof of your new status and get a new card. Same number, new card.

One more side question, The SSA site seemed to indicate I need the I-551 Permanent Resident Card in order to apply.

Does it mean I cannot get a new SSN until the green card is mailed to me?

Are we talking about the conditional green card?  Or I cannot change that text until I get the perm green card 2 years later?

Would that also means I cannot start looking for job until weeks later?

Thanks

The endorsed visa becomes a temporary green card.  Use that.
