Mailed Application at Lewisville TX Processing Time

My N-400 was recently mailed and received by Lewisville TX address via FedEx on April 29th (monday). How long should I wait to see a check being cashed/to receive the NOA? Also, how long does it take to schedule biometrics if the application was done via mail rather than online? I'm applying from New York city.

Thanks for letting me know. When did you physically receive the NOA? Do you remember? I think it's going to be a longer wait for me since it's been more than 10 days since my application got delivered to Lewisville lock box.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just as an update, nothing has been processed yet (no check, no text message, no email). It's been 24 days since they received my application. I've contacted Lewisville lockbox through their email address and haven't heard anything back, and when I call USCIS, they told me that nothing has been processed yet. Please let me know if anyone else is in a similar boat!

Was there a specific requirement for u to file on paper. Why didn't you file online. You could have avoided all this delay!

Yes I know. I filed on paper because I'm using a lawyer because my work paid for my lawyer and my citizenship filing fee. So I would have liked to avoid the delay, but now it's too late.

Ok, do you have proof that your application packet was received by them?

Yes, my lawyer mailed it via FedEx so I have the FedEx tracking that says it was received and signed on April 29th by L. Sauls.

Ok, so since you have hired your lawyer,  you should be asking him/her to take care of it then.... What's then the purpose of having a lawyer!

Yeah I know. But trying to gather more information from other people in this forum since it's one of the more reliable ways to figure things out for a timeline rather than relying on my lawyer solely.

Just as an update, I finally got my text message that told me my receipt number! It has been 25 days since they received the application and was finally processed!

If you haven't already, set up a profile on USCIS so you can see more information about estimated completion date etc:

As you probably know, the NYC (Manhattan) field office is depressingly slow/behind and many people wait up to a year for an interview. It's not a great situation here.

CITIZENSHIP TIMELINE

4/2019: Submitted N400

5/2019: Biometrics (3 weeks)

2/2020: Interview (10 months)

3/2020: Oath & naturalization (11 months)

6/2020: Passport received (3 months)

Officially a U.S. Citizen!

Yeah, I know. I'm also waiting for my I-751 to be adjudicated (filed in April 2018), so that has been a year and one month+ now.
