With immigration, I totally get that sometimes your mind goes to the worst case scenario, but trust me, you do not have the oddest case in the office.  As long as your relationship is real, and from the sound of this post it is, you are okay.   You got this!

I challenge you to find one case where age was the reason.

PS.  I have a significantly larger age gap with my wife

i was reading an article regarding the age gap... online, where this lawyer talks about the age gap and the red flags... it says that when a  woman is older than the fiance, immigration takes that seriously because it looks like the younger fiance is taking advantage of her... i mean you can go crazy reading so many things

Each case is so unique as mentioned and comparing yours to anyone else's, especially when it has a negative outcome will only cause you to stress haha. When you read those stories too a lot of information tends to be left out or omitted which then leads really to a not very informative story.  If you search here on top right hand side about age gap denials you'll find there were other red flags in the case such as "first time meeting and proposals" or only one visit, difference in religions, not culturally normal circumstances, ect. All those are other factors besides the age gap. As @Cyberfx1024 eluded to, the age gap combined with the others ''sealed'' the fate of the outcome.

Why I asked if it was a cultural oddity.  Bottom line is that age gaps can create issues ("red flags") in a relationship (cultural, family, religious, generational, etc..).  It is those "red flags" that will get you denied,  not simply age.

YMMV

People have been approved in cases where the woman is 20-30 years older than the man. You will probably be okay.

That is very promising to hear. Ryan and I have a similar relationship but the age difference is many years. I’ve been told that this will be a serious issue. He is the love of my life and we are expecting a little girl. I pray that this will not be an issue.  Good luck to you and you two are adorable!

I am not sure when I first joined VJ there were that many with such age differences, however it is now very common, times change. I am sure the Consulate see this all the time.

hello... I have posted several topics, all of them very important to cover...

My fiance and I have been together since February 20th 2016, we met at an establishment in Cartagena Colombia, after we met, we fell deeply in love  and  we moved in together on march of that same year. I was in Colombia finishing my medical doctor career. I am 10 years older than him, that has not been an issue at all!  My fiance is very mature and very caring, and we get along pretty well... I would say excellent. During 2016 we lived together in Cartagena, once I was done with my medical career i came back to the US, and since then I have been traveling back and forth a lot!!! I would say more than three times per year and staying for long periods of times. We communicate every day, all day... I am always traveling to Colombia on special events like his birthday, my birthday, new year... for his university graduation, mothers day...we are deeply in love and he proposed last year Sept 15th, 2018 on a beautiful island in Cartagena... we had my best friend and her boyfriend come along the trip... I am so afraid that our age gap might be a red flag for immigration... we are a very cute couple, you can not even notice the age difference.. we have too much fun together... and we already experienced living together for a whole year...

No one will know you all have a 10 year age difference. What a beautiful couple

If you spend enough time on here, you'll see cases where people have met once, have much bigger age gaps, and don't speak the same language.  Those are the ones that really trigger some thorough reviews.  In your case, if you have so much proof of living together, you should be just fine!

That is not much of an age gap. It should be no concern for you.

I'm 12 years older than my wife but I look 25 years older as my hair kept falling out and my wife looks younger than her age. It was not a topic at any point during the visa process for us.

Note: I look younger if I cut my remaining hair very short. 👴
