Or should we try to go back to the SSA office?

Waste of time, imo........

You wont get it now because you are too close to the I94 expiring. That's why you need to go on Day 14 or shortly after.

You will need to apply on your I765 (not I485) and wait for your EAD approval now. They will not issue you it to you if you try to go back to SSA again.

Apply on the I765.

Ugh I thought that would be the case, thank you!

Not when manual verification is involved. It can take 4 to 8 weeks or longer. Day 14 is the best date to go.

I just received my "denial" letter from SSA last week. I applied Oct 30th.

Our SSA office is shocklingly fast and efficient. I was surprised beecause I even asked the employee at the SSA if it was going to be too close and he was so sure it would be ok lol. Oh well, we will just submit it with the EAD and go from there. I'm sending everything off today so I'm ready to just have it over with. Again thank you so much for all your help!

Eh. We went on day 2, Anastasia got her SSN a little over two weeks later. Would have been less than that, but the post office got confused (presumably because it had Anastasia's maiden name on it and not mine) after it showed up on informed delivery.

You're lucky you avoided "your DHS record cannot be found" manual verification then. Lately it takes up to 14 days for DHS to input your K1 entry record into THEIR system. That is unrelated to when CBP updates your admission record. That's why you should wait 14 days before going to SSA as until then, SSA might not have a DHS record to verify your info with and you can be put into MV for that too.
