fiance visa being recalled by uscis

Good day everyone. This is my sister's case. She was approved of a fiance visa last December 2018. The paperwork was received in US Embassy (Manila)  January this year. US Embassy then sent her a letter that they have her paperwork and that she can now schedule and appointment and medical. February 7 2018, she received another letter from the US Embassy telling her that the paperwork was  being recalled by USCIS and that they are sending the paperwork back to USCIS. My sister's boyfriend (petitioner) called the USCIS, the representative would not tell him the reason why it is being recalled and told him that the USCIS is reviewing it again and wait for 180 days.

Is there someone from this group that could probably will give us an idea why the paperwork was being recalled? all the petitioner lawyers says to them is that there is a typo error on the petitioners SSN.

Thank you so much for all your responses.

It sounds like either the embassy discovered an error by USCIS (could be minor), or they found something USCIS missed which disqualifies the petitioner or beneficiary, or the embassy found something during a check...........since there has been no interview, it's anyone's guess as to the real issue at this point.......

The petitioner called USCIS but not the embassy. Can my sister call the embassy? Would you recommend that?

Call or email as they are the one that sent it back , they should know why

YMMV

To be absolutely and technically correct, the petition was approved, not the Fiance visa.   USCIS approves petitions....and the consulate approves visas...😉

Also, she was not approved a fiance visa as you stated. They had the 129f petition approved which gives the ability to apply for the K-1 visa at the embassy level. So obviously the embassy noticed something wrong or USCIS caught something they didn't originally, hence why it was returned. But until they tell you it's just guessing really.

Also, you never said if she officially had an interview. Did she or did it literally just get sent back before that?

If this is in fact what happened, the petitioner should call USCIS, not the embassy, and ask for a Level 2 person this time.

I would have to say a definite NO that they did not check.
