Hello All.

My fiance is an Indian national living as a permanent resident in Canada. We had our interview on March 6th was quite short (3 mins) and we were approved. We have been in the AP status for 2.5 weeks now. She does have history of working and residency in the US on work visas. My question is that does anyone know what could be the hold up? Is it the fact that she isn't a Canadian Citizen? What exactly are they checking at this point after they have already approved her?

Thanks!

Administrative Processing can mean many things, and no one knows exactly what checks are done. I'm sure there is some degree of quality control checks before the visa is issued.   And no one can tell you how long it will takes.

Technically, approval comes after AP, not before........It is very rare, but denials have come after the CO said the word "Approved". I assume the CO kept your fiance's passport....which is a good thing........patience is the key word here...Good Luck.

Probably is something to do with not being a Canadian citizen as now they have to do extra checks from India to verify things.

As mentioned, everyone goes through AP, some 2-3 days, 2-3 weeks, 2-3 months... some 1+ years even...

As mentioned, approval is technically after AP and rarely, but sometimes can still be denied after AP is complete.

There is no timeline for AP, not way to expedite it or bypass it... key thing now is patience.
