Latent TB k1 Visa

If you are found to have latent TB during the 2-month culture. Do you still have to undergo the 6-month treatment?

I can share our experience with the Sputum culture

My wife had to go through the 2 month culture, at the end of the culture she was told she would either be positive or negative

Positive means she would be required to complete the 6 month TB treatment before obtaining her visa

Negative meant no active growth of TB during the culture and she can proceed with her interview and obtain her visa

 

Thank god she was negative,  Once stateside we had further blood tests done at the Local Health Department to check for TB

She was deemed to require 4 months of treatment for Latent TB after arriving here in the states

 

So hope you get a negative and do not have to wait for 6 months of treatment prior to getting your visa 

 

Regardless if it is Latent you will need and want to complete the TB treatment, but that can be done here
