Can you get delayed on interview because of your educational backrgound?

Is this possible? 

I have worked in a software house as a Quality Assurance tester and marketing executive for almost 3 years at a very reputed Us based company in my city. 

 

Never worked in my own field but it’s metallurgical engineering. 

 

Do you think that it can cause delays in my case on the interview day?

Any engineer who went through any such thing solely because of their educational background?

Some people here on Visa Journey said that they got ds5355 on family based visa because of their biomedical background. 

So that is only for visit or study visas?

A DS5535 can be issued to anyone at anytime (at the interview stage) for any visa category.

You won't get delayed on the interview due to anything related to your education or work experience.

If you worked or have an education and experience in certain STEM fields, it can raise additional concerns for background checks. Nobody knows for sure what will trigger it or not.

Your profile shows Pakistan - PCCs from Pakistan are not trusted by the US government, so there almost certainly will be some sort of delay after the interview to complete a criminal records check, if not an extended background check as well.

My name is very rare in Pakistan so name hits are unlikely.

I'm sure there are some people who are approved (and complete AP) quickly. Sometimes background checks do come back quickly even without reliable PCCs. There's no way to know if that will or won't be the case with any individual case.

Not strictly true. There was a poster from the UK that was subjected to an extensive AP a few years ago because of her education and work in the field of nuclear science.

Sure, how about from the US Government.  See methodology.  We even recently saw someone on VJ in the Philippines get one.

Yeah but Nuclear Science is way different than working QA as a tester.

True. It's certainly possible to be asked for your resume (CV) and work experience though if you have an education or work experience in a stem field or one that requires a security clearance.  I've read of it happening at Montreal for spousal and k1 visas.
