Text from USCIS for Form I-797

Hello, I just received a text earlier stating, "USCIS:  Your case was received. Receipt # XXXXXXX. Official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) to follow in mail." Now this is the NOA1, correct? It means that they did accept it and will send it to the next agency for the NOA2 process? I just want to make sure this means it was accepted, not just a notice that they received it in the mail but still working on it.

That's NOA1 and your case number, you'll get a hardcopy in the mail.

There is no next agency, is still USCIS who will work on your case, for the next 4-7 months it will be in a pile of documents waiting to be proccesed.

Okay thanks. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't them saying "Oh yeah, we got it, but still need to look at it." But it actually means they accepted it for the next step. Thanks.

Yes it means they accepted it. Well it means the employees at the lockbox sifted through everything to make sure you had the basic requirements and now are forwarding it on to the USCIS for further extensive review and processing.

All it means is that they accepted your payment and signatures, etc.  It has not been "looked at."  It won't be adjudicated for 6.5-8.5 months, according to USCIS.
