Personally, I do not know how and when these offices close down overseas.

However, in my view it is certainly not a positive move and yes I do believe it will bring about delays.

It will delay only those who would have been eligible for DCF.   It puts everyone in the same USCIS queue, imho.

Still makes me wonder if the applications have gone from 4 million to over 6 million a year,  why not hire new employees?

nothing that has been done recently has helped any part of legal or the illegal problems

  i beiieve the lowest fee paid is $435 K1 (not counnting biometrics and such)  so  the extra 2 million at even the $435 rate (not counting the huge AOS fee or the citizenship at $725 )   it would be $870,000,000 /just doing the lowest fee times 2 million

A lot of posts got deleted, you are talking about legal immigration and the strain on the system is elsewhere.

Unless they open up more processing centers or hire more people back in the US, this is just going to slow things down even further.

I don't see the panic. In Scandinavia we don't have the option for DCF at all, it's not really a big issue. We manage to get here anyway. 

 

If this is correct it only means it'll be the same for everyone. No DCF privileges to anyone.

Actually, that how I see it, too.  Perhaps the queue will be a little longer since the playing field is now level for all petitioners.

USCIS field offices abroad also do more than just DCF. Refugees can start their cases their and then wait in that country until they get travel documents to come to the States. If they get denied, they would also handle all of that right there in that country via the field office, instead of just coming over here on a plane ticket and then waiting inside the US to reapply and overcome the denial.

 

They also handle cases of adoption of children in said countries by US citizen/LPR parents among other things. So these offices were never merely just for DCF.
