Because apparently moving offices from living abroad to the US makes them multiply into being able to do more work? I have to admit that I read that article and I don't get how it's supposed to help. It just sounds like more delays from shipping things back and forth. No additional people being added, everyone being relocated. So add on the time to shut-down a location, relocate employees, ship all files, learn new systems at the new location...it just seems like it will add to the backlog. The only saving grace I see on this is that none of the news writers have actually seen the proposal, so maybe it will make more sense than just the little details that are known.

I just saw the news on politico

https://www.politico.com/story/2019/03/12/citizenship-immigration-international-offices-close-1218137

I’m glad my wife is on the AOS status at this point. But I don’t blame any administration,  if becoming a citizen was suppose to be easy, cheap, and fast then everyone would do it.

If this makes things harder or people wait longer, then so be it. If the relationship is bonafide, waiting won’t be an issue.

Just got an account here to post this very unfortunate news. If you are planning to do DCF, you would want to act ASAP.

https://www.politico.com/story/2019/03/12/citizenship-immigration-international-offices-close-1218137

"U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services plans to close all its international field offices, according to three people familiar with the decision."

I guess refugee applicants also won't be allowed to start applications from abroad anymore either if they close all the intentional offices.

Does anyone know what this means to those that are trying to get visas for family members etc? It sounds like they are closing the office in Mexico City. I'm getting married to a Mexican man shortly and am really concerned about this. It's one more way this administration is trying to stop immigration. Can they really stop us like this?

Thanks,

Laurianne

From my understanding it just means that DCF might be ending? if there's no USCIS offices internationally, they can't process the I-130 at the embassy.

01/28/2019 - Mailed Express Mail USCIS Lockbox Phoenix

01/29/2019 - Received by Phoenix Lockbox
