There is no "filing" Have him digitally fill it out, then print page 5 and only page 5, sign and date printed page 5, then scan it (or take a good picture of it with a phone)

Then have him e-mail or share by some other means (drops box, Google drive etc) filled I-134 PDF AND scanned JPG of signed Page 5 as well as financial documents e.g. IRS transcripts for filed taxes. https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

You will print all of that out before the interview, toss out old page 5 from PDF and replace it with signed Page 5 from JPG, and put it into your packet to take with you to the interview.

Thank you for these helpful steps on how to sort out the I-134!

Just a further question regarding this process:

My fiance, the USC, is wondering whether he is supposed to show himself as the support of my application AND a joint sponsor, or only the joint sponsor. He will be receiving assistance from his sister in the sponsor/ I-134 process.

This is specific to London and not other consulates.

If he doesn't make enough to meet the support guidelines, then he doesn't do an I-134. London will accept his sister as the sponsor. She does an I-134 with proof that her income meets the requirement.

She should mail her original signed form and proof of income to you. London likes employer letters as proof or one tax return, three returns are not needed.

Perfect, that's all we needed to know! Thank you again for the prompt response.

As an aside, I'm currently in contact with the school district where I'm moving to in the Lacey/ Olympia area of WA, and have submitted an application to be a Substitute Teacher with them. So, if that proves fruitful, would I be right in saying that they could provide me with the evidence of support?

I'm sorry if I am misunderstanding, but are you saying that you the non-USC submitted a job application?

That is correct, and I have notified the employer of full details of my Visa and process. It was primarily to express my interest for when my eligibility to work comes through, and I'm now aware that this cannot be utilised for any manner of support claim. Simply me wanting to test the waters for eventual employment.

Apologies, I should have been more clear!

Okay, as long as you are aware it will be quite sometime before you will be able to work. Not a lot of data on the VJ timeline search for Yakima, but it appears that it might be one of the offices that get AOS finished before EAD can be processed, so I'd say you are looking at a minimum of 4 months after entry which honestly as I'm typing makes me realize it could see you getting in there by the beginning of next school year. I wouldn't bank on it but it is a strong possibility.

If the petitioner is in Olympia, the AOS app will be processed in Seattle, not Yakima.

Holy cow, that makes a huge difference. I was just going by what she had on her info that shows up on the side of her posts as I have no idea about the geography of Washington. OP looks like you will need about 5-6 months after filing to get an EAD to begin working if that is the case.

Note that current annual income would be what you earn in a 12 month period for an employee, or mirror what is on the tax return for a self-employed individual.

Kind of correct.  Yes, the combo card will take 5-6 months, but since those are processed nationally, it takes that long regardless of your local FO.  It is actually the green card itself that is processed locally, so that is where the large variations of processing times come in.

The question for a teaching position is whether an EAD is adequate, or if they require the actual green card.

Yes but if your field office processes GCs in less time than the NBC processes EADs you don't have to wait for the EAD. As in in Yakima she gets to work with a GC in 3 or 4 months and in Seattle she gets to work with an EAD in 5-6 months.

Thank you everybody for your assistance!

I have amended my Local Office to Seattle, due to my fiance/ the USC living in Olympia. Seattle will indeed be my local office.

For now, I feel satisfied that my question was answered. Of course, I'll likely have yet more questions in the near future, and I'll keep my timeline updated as it changes!
