Petitioner’s Passport at Interview?

Is the petitioner’s original passport required at the beneficiary’s interview? When my wife has her interview, I’m not going to be in the Philippines. She has all of the other original documents required along with the photocopies. However, my concern about sending my passport is that I wouldn’t be able to travel until she mailed it back. What was your experience with this? Thanks!

I don't believe the petitioner having a passport is even a requirement for any of this. It could show some trust, but it's not remotely required. She just needs to bring her passport.

NO.    Step 5 is the checklist of what is required.

In a twist to this, how about since I'm going to be there for her interview, I give her my passport to show the CO as part of the ongoing evidence and state that I'm here right now to be with her for the process? I think that would show our commitment to each other and help strengthen the case, no? Would they even care to look at it?

The CO will see you right there with your fiancee at the interview (yes, you can join her).  You > passport, I would think.

Join her as in be there by her side during the questioning or just waiting for her inside but she does the interview solo?

There by her side during the questioning.  Or if you're unlucky, the CO will ask you to be seated some feet away (still within view) while she gets interviewed.  The latter is unlikely for Manila.  The CO will probably want to talk to you.

From what I have seen it 50/50 if you get to join her for the actual interview, the interview is done in open, similar to a bank teller

Why?      

 

You are going to be there standing beside her ...  ?   CO may ask you to sit down for the actual interview

Ok, I didn't know they would allow me to be with her during the interview, other than being able to wait for her inside. What kind of questions could they possibly ask me?
