Immunizations in the US HELP!?

Hey all, so I completed my medical in London and entered the states on a k1 visa. Now when I was at my medical in the UK I was missing a shot (2nd MMR) so I opted to have this done at my local doctors. Now I am In the US and am confused as every civil surgeon I speak to is saying I need to get my full medical redone. Please tell me this isn’t the case? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Am I correct in saying I can’t file my AOS without getting the I-693 filled? I only need this for the interview?

Only one MMR shot is required to fulfill the vaccination requirement.

CS's can ask you to do whatever they want so you have to shop around. But know that with your overseas medical, you will satisfy the medical requirement as is as long as you filed AOS within one year. The one MMR is fine. No I693 is needed.

You can file your AOS. The I693 does not apply to you. And even if it did, it would only be required to submit at the interview or even after the interview.

Ok so here is my vaccinations form, does this look in order to you? I got marked ‘C’ on MMR.

You have nothing for MMR. No dates at all, not even a first MMR. A Civil Surgeon will have to sign you off.  Some won't do that unless they give a full medical. Call around and ask. And as a FYI, if you only have one MMR proof from your GP and four weeks have passed since you had it then you will be due a second one. 

 

You can delay the I-693 closer to your interview as stated on the USCIS website:

 

NOTE:  To ensure the results of the medical examination are still valid at the time USCIS adjudicates the associated benefit application, applicants should schedule the medical examination as close as possible to the time they file for adjustment of status, respond to a Request for Evidence, or attend an interview (if applicable).

Thank you for your reply, that’s just what I thought. So I guess I’m going to go ahead and file the AOS now and the I-693 after. How long can I expect to typically wait for my interview? Also do I file the vaccination report with my AOS (the image I uploaded)

I don't keep up with timelines any more, but I think I've seen people say a year. 

 

Your vaccination report would only be useful to send in if you had MMR on the sheet and your jabs were signed off at Knightsbridge clinic. Then you could have skipped the Civil Surgeon.  Take it to the Civil Surgeon and he will copy what is documented onto an I-693 and add on your MMR. If you go between next October 1 and March 31 (flu season) you will need a flu shot too.

Ok so just to clarify... I sent my AOS and I have some time before I need to sort my jabs out with the civil surgeon. Correct? Also this won’t be an issue with me working ? After EAD of course

That's what they say. If you get an RFE, then do it then. Or if no RFE, have it ready to take to your interview.

Your medical is not marked as completed so you do need a I-693. I think it's only valid for 60 days, so I would find a civil surgeon that is willing to do it for a normal amount of money. Keep in mind, you can only use the ones that USCIS approved, not just anyone. (You can find a list on the USCIS website) 

Usually once your status changes to 'interview is scheduled' your interview will be about a month later. Make sure you find a CS that can do the I-693 right when you need it, not one with a long waiting list.

Applying for your AOS in the meantime is fine - no worries. Your medical requirements will need to be fulfilled, and evidence of such presented, at your AOS interview when that time rolls around.

 

You'll need what's called a 693 now (as others have referenced). Unfortunately, it may (and most likely) be quite a feat finding a US civil surgeon who will do what you need.

 

My husband had to do the same when he came here, for another vaccine, and I nearly drove myself crazy trying to find someone. Nearly everyone we called was going to require him to do the full medical again, and we didn't want to pay that. We finally found one (about 2 hours away from us, but worth it in our opinion) who would do the remaining vaccination only, and complete the 693. If you're able to find someone - they'll probably administer the vaccine, you give the requested paperwork, and there is about a week to two weeks turn around. They'll call when it's ready and you pick it up. They charged us $140 total, for the shot and the paperwork, but that was still cheap compared to what a full medical write up would've cost.

 

I suggest searching the forums here for "designated US civil surgeons". There was a long thread, a long time ago, where people were sharing civil surgeons in their area who would do it, not sure if it's been maintained recently or not.
