Hey guys, my wonderful fiancé Kristen and I sent our package to the Texas service centre 14th feb 2019. It’s all a waiting game now. 🙄💕😘 NOA 1 received in mail 24th feb 💕

Your doing great. That's the first step. Next step won't come for another 5-6 months so hang in there and keep your expectations low and you will get through this journey.

Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Thanks

There are a lot of inconsistency to this process. What is suppose to happen many times it doesn't. Don't get discourage this soon in your journey. Sometimes things don't work the way USCIS, NVC or even the Embassy states they will. This is a ebb and flow process. I've been here for many years helping people get through this and the item that will have the most impact on you is "expectations". You set them high and you have much further to fall to reality.  Set them low and they will flow off your back like water off a duck's back. This process is different for everyone. The only thing you can depend on is that everyone files a 129f, you get a hard copy of the NOA1 and 2. You get a case number. You get to interview. That's about all that you each of you will have in common. Everything else is dependent on you, your fiancé and the government agency. So try and make some friends and get to know other cultures. Leave the feet stomping, whining and the other antics some where else. Make it more then that. Good luck and I hope to help you when you need an extra lift.

Whoooa. Your not even into this for 2 weeks and your annoyed?? A word of encouragement from an old VJ sea dog. Set your expectation lower and you won't be so annoyed. I have seen it over and over how soon people are annoyed, disappointed, anxious and what not. This is a long process. It could take a year before you get your visa and 2 weeks in your annoyed. Come on. Relax. Don't be on VJ until such time as your USCIS application is approved. Then come back for tips and pointers. That's what years of being here that I can offer.

Haha thanks buddy wasn’t so much a case of being annoyed more so impatient! HOWEVER just found out our NOA 1 arrived in the mail today backdated to 2/28! Yay😌. I know a year is nothing in the grand scheme of a lifetime.. I guess the cold crappy wet weather,a lovely arthritis flare and missing my fiancé were enough to get me frustrated ha🙈🙈

Looking back I'm sure you realize it really wasn't that long to wait. You have gotten your first "taste" of what this journey is gong to be. We all walk a different road and we rarely know each other's background. I'm hoping for smooth journey for all but like I stated set your expectations lower and you will get through this. I'm personally glad you are here and we look forward in sharing with you your accomplishments.

Got the NOA1 hard copy in the mail today and the Notice Date matches the date I received the text: March 1, 2019.

VJ estimates adjudication will occur around July 12, 2019 and July 18, 2019. In the meantime, time to relax, be patient, and make the most of the waiting period. :)

Sent my petition on Feb 22nd, I haven’t gotten the noa1 nor have they charged the bank yet...should I be worried? (Lawyer sent the application and I have no idea if they tracked the package or not)

I've set up USPS Informed Delivery so I'll know if I'm getting anything from the USCIS that day. See if it's available in your area: https://informeddelivery.usps.com/box/pages/intro/start.action

It's not unusual for it to take 3-4 weeks for the hardcopy to arrive. Just a little more patience.

It can take 3-4 weeks before you will see either a hard copy of the NOA1 and if you have a lawyer involved then it all depends when they notify you. Only two ways to check if the have gotten your application and that is was the package traceable and was the "check" cashed. Knowing that I can give you more information to determine where things are. The lawyer doesn't seem to be connected to your case..... Mmmmm.

Congrats to all the February 2019 filers hoping your journey is smooth. If you listen to no other advice here pay particular close attention to the advice about NOT setting your bar to high. It will save you alot of grief and heartache trust me. Learn all you can while here and don't compare to much your case with other folks, I understand that's a very hard thing not to do.

4 years, 11 months, 2 weeks and 3 days

Citizenship Complete!

USCIS is like a box of chocolates, you never know what kind of answer you are going to get!!!!

In a lame attempt to piggyback on @Greenbaum's words of wisdom, DO NOT freak out to the point of hospitalization with a panic attack when you start reading about NOA2s from people who filed days/weeks and even a month or two after you start rolling in. There's a method to USCIS madness: there's no method!

As previously stated, set your expectations low, set it and forget it, expect your NOA2 for the end of the current waiting period. Use the next few months to educate further in the K1 process, research embassy requirements of your beneficiaries' countries, gather what paperwork you'll need for embassy stage: tax transcript, updated letters of intent, screen shots of whatever form of communication used (2 screenshots per month...people differ in opinions in this...do what's best for you), but most importantly, nurture your relationship.

Best wishes,

Catherine.
