Tips on AOS via K1 visa

Hey all! I just received my K1 visa in hand and will be flying off to US in about a months time. Can anyone let me know on what important documents I need to bring with me over there to adjust status? I am going to get married within a month of arriving and will submit my documents after that. Thanks!

The medical exam paperwork, so you don't have to get it done again hopefully.

Extra copies of birth certificates. 

 

If you hadn't come before on F1 I would say personal care items.  It took Mary time to find brands here she liked.

Birth Certificate AND Translation. Preferably notarized (never know what you'll need in the future).

Old Driver's Licence 

Once you close up you bank accounts, if you can get to keep any Credit card, or debit card, have one with you, helps when trying to add to your USC account. 

Overall paperwork that you will need here. Diplomas, certificates etc. 
DS-3025 from medical is very very important if you want to save time and money for AoS.
You're moving to another country, so EVERYTHING you've got official, get it translated at least without notarization.

Pretty much that's about it. Just when You come here, plan ahead few steps. Marriage, AoS, Affidavit of Support, EAD, AP. Start gathering and putting those together early, because it WILL take more time than to file I-129f.

Don't rush it, have a checklist on a piece of paper when putting AoS together. And when you're done and about to send, one of you goes thru the list, other confirms that documents are present.
Other than that, really there is nothing to add. Plan 6months without work.

For the medical exam paperwork, i was given a soft copy from my medical in my home country is that the one that i can use for aos?

Thanks so much for this this is super helpful! Just a question, do i have to do medical again when i land in the us for paperwork?

If you have a DS-3025 marked complete when you did the medical in Your country, then not. If it's marked not complete, then you'll need to get missing shots and get civil surgeon to fill out i693. Which will cost additionally. That's why it's always advised to get a FULL medical done, including shots before embassy. Look at that paper that the doctor gave you after medical, at the bottom left it should say whether it's complete or not.

I gave you in previous reply almost whole information what will follow and what's needed. Be vary and read requirements, double and triple check before sending out paperwork, and make sure the check is for correct amount.

Yes I just checked the medical documrnt that the clinice sent me a month ago and I just realised that was the DS-3025 haha. There's no check box which says 'complete' but they checked  the box that states 'K Visa applicant voluntarily completed vaccination requirements' does this mean that I have all my vaccinations that I need?

Attached is a screenshot. Also, they only put in the dates for the following vaccines:

- TDaP

- MMR

- Varicella

- Influenza

 

Do I need to go to a USCIS doctor in the US to get the rest of the vaccines documented? I kept the certificates of the vaccines for the others.

Unfortunately, yes. IF your medical is fully and you've got all the vaccines needed, it would've marked as "Immigrant visa or parolee applicant completed vaccination requirements", as that's what you're going to be when applying for AoS, an Immigrant. I 'm not 100% on that, but that's what ours was marked with.

You'll need to find a USCIS approved civil surgeon that will sign off the i693 for you without full medical. What shots were you missing? It's difficult to find one that won't want to do a full medical all over cause they want that easy $$$, but some will do, you just gotta shop around.

Yes, they marked mind as "Immigrant visa or parolee applicant completed vaccination requirements". I have all my shots certificate needed, just that on my DS-3025 they only put the dates for the 4 vaccines mentioned above. What checkbox did your physician put?
