US tourist visa revoked

Email the embassy. Failing that, go to the airport and if cancelled, you're unlikely to be issued a boarding pass. Yet failing that, you'd be put on a flight back home one you land in the US.

But since you admitted lying, we REALLY don't want you in the US. The visa was obtained fraudulently!

Now my question is that is this normal thing to happen ?

Yes, it can happen.

Can embassy cancel visa like this on mere phone call ?

Yes, they can inform you via phone, as a courtesy call.

What if I try to travel and my visa has really been revoked ?

You will be denied entry (if you make it as far as that), and sent back home.

Alternatively, you would be denied boarding the plane in your home country at the airport.

Is there any official way from where I can check status of my visa?

Contact the embassy that issued the visa.

Consider another country for your upcoming vacation.  It won't be the USA.

What's going on in your circle? Tug of war? You should try and get in touch with embassy through email.

To do what?

The OP's visa was rightfully revoked and they admitted to the reason why. There is no appeal on decisions like this. Filing for a new tourist visa would be futile because they have the OP's history of using "artificial" information on file. There is nothing left to do.

*He said the person on the line 'claimed' to be from the US embassy. So he's not sure therefore I said he should email the embassy. Person could have been an impostor (you know he's based in India), and that's why I asked what's going on in his circle. True, he lied on his Visa so it may have or may have not been revoked. The US Embassy in some countries never calls anyone, maybe they do in India I don't know.

But that’s a brilliant trap if it’s an impostor, because by calling to check he’s effectively admitting he lied on the form (otherwise, why worry) and he’ll give himself away that way. Same outcome.

True. But if he really did obtain the visa fraudulently, it would still be improper for him to use the visa. So whether the call was legit or not isn't really that important.

That said, I would be heavily inclined to believe the call was legit. It seems that they knew precisely what statements were found to be false from the DS-160 and/or the interview. Embassy/Consulate staff have been known to call as a courtesy for this purpose, too, so it's not like that's unheard of either. I would also presume the OP checked the phone number and it was not from anybody he knew.
