Am I free to enter USA immediately after my interview? Only asking as we will be so close to our intended state - would be nice to pop in for a visit before returning home to finalize any business here in Alberta before making the final move.

Thank you

You need to wait for your passport with the visa inside to be returned to you. You don’t get the visa there and then at the interview.

Awe, shame. Would have been so convenient. Thanks for the prompt response!!

Do you have a NEXUS card?

Or* an enhanced driver's licence (EDL) or enhanced identification card (EIC) from a province where a U.S.-approved EDL/EIC program has been implemented? http://fdfa.ca/border-crossing-information/border-identification-requirements/

*Disregard because EDL/EIC are not issued by Alberta

I didn't include the Free and Secure Trade (FAST) card because I assume OP isn't a commercial truck driver that carries cargo in/out of the US. Also, the preceding passport alternatives only apply to Land and Water POEs.

Thank for the response. No, I do not have a Nexus. Thank you , though.

Occasionally people do visit and then activate the K1 later but that's completely up to the CPB officer at entry.
