I am all for saving the planet but if she doesn't have a concrete plan to replace airplanes... Forget it. Boeing and Airbus are already trying to figure out how to be more environmentally friendly (testing new fuel etc) and the airlines are trying to reduce their carbon footprint. People have to fly. Sure it would be great if people realized they should only travel if they really need to but still. There are certain places you can't get to without flying. This is nuts. 

 

And what the heck? How come both Bernie and her looks at the Scandinavian countries, say they want to be like them and then go everything up? The whole reason why our social welfare system works is that Scandinavians are hard working people. Sure there are exceptions but people want to work and contribute to society. We can't just hand out money to people who don't want to work, it doesn't work like that. In Sweden, for example, you have to show that you are actually actively trying to apply for jobs to be able to get government assistance ( separate from unemployment benefits).

Sanders and Occasional-Cortex and the rest of the clueless seem to think that governmental control and tyrannical dictates are the answer, when the reality is that human ingenuity and scientific advances unleashed by free enterprise will solve just about anything that they're worried about.

I'm a little weary of the whole "this person is a gift and will make it easier for my side!" thoughts. That's exactly what the left said about Trump entering the race, mocked him, ridiculed him, didn't take him seriously, thought that he was unelectable, became smug about their own ideas/abilities and reveled in making fun of him, all the while assuming it made them stronger. It's not really a good road to go down, I think constructive criticism is best...AOC's idea bout getting rid of airplanes is clearly absurd, as is the chicken little "world is going to end in 12 years" alarmism, and there's a lot of things she says that are just mindbogglingly naive like "no funding for ICE", all of that is indeed easy to laugh at. However, I saw the video where she was calling out corruption in politics with the House Oversight Committee and that is not an insane thing to talk about, that's a very real thing and a lot of people on both left and right hate the Washington insider machine, actually it was one of the big reasons Trump was elected: "Drain the swamp!" etc.

 

So my dream for both sides is: don't get smug, don't just assume because a person sounds crazy to you that their words don't deeply resonate with other people in the electorate. The media loves AOC because she energizes people and she is dynamic on camera, she is different, she's new, she's a reason to turn on the TV, either to laugh at her or to cheer her on. I actually think someone like her is helping the Dems shed their corrupt insider image (thanks, Hillary and co!) and probably making a lot of people want to believe in the party again, even if what she says most of the time is nuts. It'll be interesting to see how it all plays out. I doubt the media will stop focusing on her because she has star power and they need ratings, but I'm pretty sure AOC's views will "evolve" as most politicians do...the latest insane example I can think of regarding evolving views is the fact that former speaker John Boehner is now a lobbyist for a marijuana company, lol.

We are told scientific methods are wrong in determing that carbon output from human activity is  affecting planet climate, why would we turn to scientists to help us solve our problems?

There's a difference between real science and junk science backed by nothing other than doctored computer models.

Tell me what the difference is because I know of no scientific model that will account for the changes in temperatures or sea ice unless you put co2 emissions in to account. Do you have a model that works?)

Have you looked at what caused the previous five ice ages, and subsequent warming of the planet?  I'm guessing one could draw some fairly accurate observations from that, if one were interested.
