Our lawyer actually skipped that part for whatever reason and I only realized that after the petition was sent lol. Luckily no RFE's and still got approved.

Personally I think a small signed letter which outlines your relationship (corresponding with dates, receipts, boarding passes, etc) will make it easier for whoever is reviewing your application. It may not be necessary but I think it’s our job to make it easier for the reviewer.

This is true! Even though we left ours blank, we still didn't even get asked how we met at our interview! But agree totally it makes it easier for the reviewer :)

I see the point.

That said, that's implying they would have asked you that if you hadn't provided a letter. Example: If I sent an engagement ring receipt and then the CO never asked how much the engagement ring cost, that doesn't mean sending the receipt actually did anything. ;)

Biggest myth of the K-1 is the 129f "relationship letter"

Depends on country. Some consulates, Vietnam comes to mind, have historically asked for a letter outlining relationship from beginning to current.  Majority do not however.

Relationship letters belong at the consulate for sure but not in the 129f.

Consulate doesn't have to look at anything not included in the initial petition.

The issue of how u met ties into IMBRA.  If u met online, u should include a copy of the website terms of service so they can make that determination. If u met in person just say where/how.  My fiancee works as a waitress so ours was 1 or 2 sentences," i met her at the restaurant where she was working on xxx date. I was a customer at the restaurant."

Keep it simple and think about why they ask the question so u can focus your response to address the visa requirements.

Now that's sound advice. I would add there is no need to bring up the fact that you met online at all. All you must says is "Me and my finance met in person on January, 1st 2019 in London. Evidence of this meeting are attached in the form of passport stamps,  credit card receipts, and pictures." They really aren't interested if you fall under IMBRA unless you tell them you are or give them reason to suspect it. They don't care how you came to know each other they just want to know that you meet the conditions to apply. That's why they only give you the 4 lines. Now frontloading is a different animal all together and its merits are a whole other argument. This advice is for the petition and not the visa application of course.

I would add that IMBs have been around before the Internet...it's not purely an issue with dating websites or otherwise meeting online. That's just a consequence of a change in how people meet in general.

Nothing wrong with online if that is how you met someone. I would actually think online is the usual circumstance.

I would bet a very high percentage of K-1s began online. Mine did and I did mention it on the 129 I.E. after establishing a relationship online I traveled to Bangkok on blah blah blah. I just meant there is no need to bring that part up on the 129 as it is irrelevant information even though admittedly I did.
