Stolen Green Card and I-751 extension document, still waiting on I-751 approval

Hello all, looking for some advise on this unusual circumstance.

 

With my petition to remove conditions (i-751) on my 2 year green card still pending, I had my expired green card and extension letter stolen from my car. 

 

I have already filed a police report but am wondering what steps to take in order to be able to travel back home to Canada?

 

My I-751 was filed in May 2018 and I was granted an 18 month extension. Looking at the timelines of the I-751 it could be another 5-6 months until I would be granted approval and receive my 10 year green card. The $540 fee for the i90 replacement is not something I am keen on spending my money on especially if there is another way to gain re-entry into the US if I want to make a trip home in the coming months.

 

Any thoughts or advice for me in the situation would be greatly appreciated.

Since you lost both 2  year GC+ extension letter, so you technical have no legal documents to prove you 're PR. The only thing i can think of right now is schedule a inforpass to your local USCIS office and ask them for a stamp in you passport.

I think your best option is to make an InfoPass appointment and/or call USCIS (they might tell you to make an InfoPass appointment too, I would make that one anyway if I were you, you can always cancel after you spoke to someone on the phone)

You can also email or call USCIS so they can send a replacement of your extension letter, I have read of some people doing that when their letters got lost in the mail. I guess with the extension and your passport stamped should be enough, you can confirm this with the representative when they stamp your passport.

You are not permitted to file an I-90.

Your only option at this point is to get a stamp at an infopass. Make sure you take the  police report with you.
