Hey everyone,

So I'm helping my fiance (beneficiary) fill out his DS-160 and its asking for the national identification number.

For everyone who filled this out from Ukraine, did you use your identification code (ідентифікаційний код) ?

Or is this something different?

Thank you !

We left it empty as it seems to refer to SSN style number. Somehow I doubt it is important. It asks for Passport number later. We will find out in .... 4 days.

For me it is very logically my tax ID number. Whenever we are required to identify ourselves we put our given name, patronymic, last name and 'personal tax number', as it is called. You can not do anything without it, it goes on every form we fill. Everyone normally has it, even kids. It's totally unique for each person. I'm going to use that one.

To me, It's surely the ідентифікаційний код (індивідуальний податковий номер). It totally serves the purpose

No, It's not. It is a totally different paper which local tax authority gives you in 20 minutes free of charge. It's just plain white paper of A5 (half letter) size with signature and wet stamp.
