So we just checked our status and we got this... we were approved on January 16th 2019. At the montreal embassy.

Now I know there were a few flags for my fiances part. We sent in the petition (i29f) in a few times and it got sent back to us

for silly reasons such as

not having the correct payment (where we did, just two different money orders totaling to the 535 amount)

and another time for not having a signature.

They did turn my fiance around at the border when he was coming down to visit me for thanksgiving and told him he had to be patient and wait for the k1 process to be finished (in which he did)

so im hoping the clear this up soon and offically approve us and send the visa

its been well over a year and a half at this point

i just want this happily ever after to start with him 😕

All cases go into AP after interview. Some go into AP for a few hours, weeks, months or even more than a year. You are not from a difficult embassy so I wouldn't worry if I was you.

I'm curious as to what you mean by "approved"......did the CO tell him that?  Anyway, administrative processing is always an unknown and it is a part of every case....some longer than others..  Hopefully, you will see "issued" soon.....that is the REAL approval indication.

I'm curious about this... I rarely hear of Canadians getting turned away at the border with a pending K1, so this caught my eye. Was there more to it, like did he have a bunch of stuff (that could look like he was "moving") with him or anything like that? Is he a Canadian citizen?

Ugh, I'm sorry that happened to you :( Thanks for the extra info, I always worry every time my fiance drives down for reasons like that. I'm glad you are past that point and so close to visa in hand now!

Yeah cant always get the nice border folks

sometimes theyre more worse than others.

I had proposed to him in the states

near the boston area

he drove up the following week and they asked him if he required anything in the states for that week.

He was so excited he showed the lady the ring... the lady then instead of congratulating him

asked the appraisal value

and was sent inside to be questioned

If the officer said he was approved I wouldn't worry too much about it :) After my interview last year it took about a week for the CEAC tracker to go to 'issued'. It could be a little more busy at the moment. If they said 'visa in a few weeks' I would wait 3-4 weeks after interview. If it's still on AP you could always shoot them an email to see if you get a helpful answer. Best of luck, hope he gets it soon!

I think Montreal is being cautious with applicants. The same happened to me. I was told I was approved. They took my passport, and then two days later sent me a questionnaire for DS-5535 and I’ve been in AP since.

Good news is that most AP cases in Montreal get wrapped up in 60 days, more or less. Mine is likely one of the more complicated/lengthy cases as DS-5535 is a very new form and takes a long time to process. I just passed 60 days and I’m seeing signs of getting close to the end (🤞🏻).

If they kept your fiancé’s passport, that’s a very good sign that they’ll want to push through AP in reasonable time.

How long ago did you have your interview?

Do you know why they put your into AP?
