In Cebu as we speak. The new SM seaside rocks. The theater with giant power recliners and waiters is awesome.

Still to figure out how a poor country supports a high end mall every 3 miles or so.

I have wondered that myself. Maybe they make their money off tourists or something. I have been to nicer malls in the Philippines than I have ever been to in the US. I thought I read something once that said two of the top 10 largest malls in the world are in Manila. I think Mall of Asia is number 3.

Anyone here experiencing the polar vortex where you live? Here in WI it's currently -52 with the wind chill -30 without. I have lived in WI my whole life and don't remember it ever getting this cold. Even the post office is shut down and they never shut down. I thought Al Gore said winter was a thing of the past.

In order to make the global warming bit more believable this summer, scientists requested a colder winter to drive avg temps down 0.1°, so they they could claim a 0.2° increase next summer!

But all you people whining about cold... pffftttt!  Until it is -54° with zero wind, I'm not buying into this noise.

Only about 70 here today.  Was even colder the last few days, but the rest of the week will be mid to upper 70's.

Katya visited her home town (Krasnoyarsk) last year in mid-January and she saw 10 straight days of -40 (temperature scale means nothing at that point) or lower.   Mind you this is a city of a little over a million people located in the middle of Russia (Siberia), and she and they survived.  However, she actually hates the cold, so it makes me wonder why she decided to come to Michigan.  I guess it must have been me! :)

My wife is from Wisconsin and said she has experienced that before there, so one of you either isn't remembering correctly or is lying lol. Anyway over here right now it's only around 0F...We've had to deal with some polar vortex's in the last few years(one of them brought wind chills of around -40 for a couple of days) but not so far this year. We've been getting hammered with snow for sure though, almost daily. It was actually a nice day here today, I think it was like 15F at the highs, lotsa sun and no wind, type of weather where I actually use AC in the car or roll down my window because it gets so warm from the sun beating on it.

I think it was JG's memory in question. The last time it dropped that low in Wisconsin was 1996.

It was -27 this morning, same tonight I guess. I never bother with wind chill forecasts as they are just used to make it seem colder than it actually is. Its cold, but I see no reason why so many places of business close down.  Last weekend I went ice fishing and the temp was - 17.  Put the heater on in the shelter and its plenty warm. Fish still bit fine.

Close.  When it was that cold, I was in Fairbanks, AK.

But it cracks me up, watching the local NY news.  “Dangerous cold temperatures”.  “Don’t go outside unless it is absolutely necessary!”  And it’s between 20* down to -15* in the areas mentioned.

My wife keeps asking when we're going to the Philippines. Personally i.prefer extreme cold over extreme heat.
