OP clarified it already. On their original submission they did not check either yes or no, hence the RFE for not answering all the questions on the I-129F form.

Except if they had marked the wrong box, why would "white out" be necessary?

Tnak you for your answers and sorry for the late reply!

I got guidance, but some people said yes to white out, some are saying no...

I'm just going to call call uscis for a new form

Thank you!

What is it exactly that you want to apply white out to?  Do not do that btw.  This is a federal form, not a book report.

And you don't need to call USCIS for a new form. That will get you nowhere.  All forms are available on their website..

I didn't mark the wrong box on the form, only on the RFE.

We did not mark anything on the original I-129F and thus we got the RFE

Ah, okay.  I have never heard of USCIS re-sending out an RFE because the recipient marked it incorrectly, but you can try.  It might be easiest just to correct it manually and include a cover letter of explanation.

No, they haven't sent the RFE response yet. They marked No on it while filling it out and are asking about the best way to rectify that BEFORE sending the RFE response to USCIS.

Exactly what @EM_Vandaveer said. I am starting to think I am not the best at explaining things in writing...

Seriously, just print a new form (whichever page you need) from USCIS' website, put the documents pertaining to the charge & the RFE letter with it & send it back.

We can't print a new one since the RFE only includes the question that we forgot to answer. We are just going to use tip-ex and explain it in the letter.

I honestly think using tip-ex is a big mistake.  It is not appropriate on a legal document, ever.

Other member did for the exact same reason and it worked out for them.

What is your recommendation?

Why couldn't you? Just print out the right page then fill out only that one question on it... You could even cut that question out.

ooooh I see what you mean.

In the end this is what I did:

- Made a new cover letter for the RFE

- Completed the I-129F the right way this time and printed it out and signed and dated it.

- Corrected the RFE form and marked the right question

- Wrote an explanation letter detailing what had happened with the original I-129F and the RFE

- Sent all supporting documents (certified copies of court records)

I hope all this is fine and they give us the thumbs up soon!
