Yes bought we have to something about so much plastic being used and dumped..

We call them sissy straws.  Usually only hot chicks and lady not use them

Is this some form of new language?

As to the straw question, I like them in bars, but this would hurt the wife more, she likes to drink her coffee with a straw, I don't think a paper straw would hold up.

Honestly I look at it this way. If you saw the inside of most kitchens it would give you a pause eating at a restaurant, but yet Americans do, every single day. They are fine with eating off of plates and silverware washed pretty much the same way as glasses. Most people aren't going to put straws in their favorite alcoholic drinks, but would do so if given a glass of soda from the same establishment. Ever seen inside of the ice machines? If there's something bad going on in there, then no straw is going to save you.

My dear, I have worked in those kitchens back in the day.  I KNOW what happens.  Knew a cook who got in a fight with a customer over an order of fried chicken livers.  The next few times that customer ordered livers, he always made sure to coat and fry a couple of cockroaches for her.

And I have also owned and kept clean an ice machine... and I have also seen inside ice machines in restaurants.

But as to the straws, a hotel (purportedly)  barkeep (so I heard, I don't attend such establishments) put paper straws in every alcoholic beverage (who drinks that swill anyway?) that was sold, minus the beers. (Since NB has accused me of being a cheap alcoholic, i thought I'd clear the air).

But there's a difference to me between dishes poorly washed in a kitchen vs. glasses wiped clean with a toilet rag.  Slight, but different nonetheless.  Though I have survived eating and drinking in public this long, so I reckon I'll be ok for a few more years.

Straws in alcohol? Eww. That's just gross, paper or otherwise. Same as using them in coffee, that's just insane (tell her to stop it Bill!). :P We frequent a pub that's been around since pre-Revo war.. but I've never seen the bartender use straws. Can't say I've ever seen them used in any of the fancy places that have bars either. Nor even in the Irish pub either. Now in cocktails you have mini straws, so I hear (can't say I can stand the stuff) but some places have been stopping that too. Maybe it's a cultural thing? If I saw a straw in alcohol I'd find it rather gauche.

Order a daiquiri, you should get a straw.  That's protocol.  Pretty much any alcohol served in a tall glass, I've always seen a straw with it.  Not in highball glasses, of course.

But yeah, a paper straw in a cold drink,  even tea... ewwww.  As in gross.

We might be living in a "bring your own straw" world soon it seems.

I actually like the paper straws, and I really like the old timey straws made form....straw. Those are fun because the plant matter makes them tough but they're obviously good for the Earth too.

Now those I could probably enjoy drinking thru!

That being said, there is a reason why paper straws were invented to replace the wheat and rye ones.  And why they faded out back in the 60s to be replaced by plastic.

I would never employ someone who was unstable enough to commit a felony offense over a simple argument. Too much liability.

Didn't realize frying cockroaches was a felony?

As to the liability... one never knows what one is getting when one hires a new employee; Jeffrey Dahmer was a combat medic at one time.

Now you know. Food tampering law's vary by state though. AFAIK ALFKAD, It's a misdemeanor in some states and a felony offense in others. I didn't specifically check Florida law.

It wasn't in FL, but that is neither here nor there.

A quick Google search revealed several different bodily substances being put on food, but no felony charges that I could find (only scanned first search page, though).

First one that comes up for me - felony charge in North Carolina for booger sandwiches. I searched for felony food tampering.

Ahhh.  I didn't include the word felony.  Leads me to think most food tampering cases are not felonies.
