No I don't really hate them. A lot of restaurants are using them these days. My only concern is about how truly compostable they really are, and if we are doing enough in general to actually stop the massive plastic problem. It might make some people feel good about themselves, but the reality is if they look around their homes, they are probably more than making up for the straws with other junk.

No I think the use of non biodegradable plastic is s huge threat to our environment.   More so than climate change. Everyone is using disposable everything.  Mountain of plastic here

If you are staying at places where someone does that, straws are the least of your worries, my friend.

That happens daily in hotels across the USA.

Have you ever watched a barkeep wash glasses in a bar?  They push the glasses down on some brushes in a soapy sink, typically 2 two swooshes, then into the rinse water, then into the sanitize water.  I believe there is little to no contact with the scrubbers on the outside time of the glass.

You can “gather” all you want, mister.  But what you SHOULD be doing is trying to impress the in-laws with how well you are taking care of their baby girl.

And it’s Hotels, not motels.  The main difference being the size of the roaches.

They know the deal. The treat me so good. Refuse to let me pay..

Ps. It's amazing how that 747 driver can park that nose wheel directly on that tiny yellow line

Also on a side note I enjoyed seeing the pinoy immigration officer send the koreans that tried to break line to the back.

They think they own the Philippines.  Some will literally try to push you out of line.

One more.. the wing seat is nice. But last row rocks

Honestly I look at it this way. If you saw the inside of most kitchens it would give you a pause eating at a restaurant, but yet Americans do, every single day. They are fine with eating off of plates and silverware washed pretty much the same way as glasses. Most people aren't going to put straws in their favorite alcoholic drinks, but would do so if given a glass of soda from the same establishment. Ever seen inside of the ice machines? If there's something bad going on in there, then no straw is going to save you.

No. I am rarely at a bar, but if I am, I usually have better things to do than watch the barkeep.

No need to worry though. I always tell myself the alcohol in the drinks will kill most common pathogens anyway.
