Sweet, so Trump has decided to accept, essentially the same bill he rejected back in December.

Trump sure is hell of a negotiator, that is for sure. I hope this goes in his next book, 'how to negotiate nothing, but help wreck the economy'.

How about... even though the dems refuse to negotiate, Trump allowed the government to resume so hundreds of thousands could get paid, while at the same time setting a short deadline for Congress to figure this mess out, or he will use emergency authority (which I think he should have done alresdy).

It is amazing, the far left are claiming victory here.  Wonder what happens if the shutdown comes back in three weeks?

Overall, this is just another example of Congress not wanting to put their stamp on anything.  Both sides are a joke in that Article 1 body.  I think they got even more scared to do anything during the Obama administration, and now....

Well if that's how you want to spin it, then by all means do so. Totally wrong, but that's never stop you before either.

The Republican Congress didn’t vote for anything that Obama wanted.

Curious on this one, Pelosi and Schumer called for him to open the government before they'd negotiate, let's see if they were serious or just being asshats.

Ball's in their court now

What I want to know is. Why, and where, did Trump suddenly come up with his 5.7 or 5.6 Billion in extra funding request? It's almost like he pulled the number out of a hat.

I still think it play's out like I said earlier. They will negotiate, but they will ask for concessions that they know Trump cannot concede.

My gut feeling is Trump is setting the path for using executive power. I think the preference is to let negotiations fail and use executive power, rather than keep the government closed and use executive power. While I am sure there will be criticism either way, it would certainly face less legitimate criticism the first way.

I agree the end will be as you predict, but i think they were one-upping him and trying to show their political prowess. Its ego vs egos

Definitely egos. We know Trump is Trump. He may have surprised people at first, but he is actually fairly predictable. He will focus on the wall until he get's something done. The Democrats would get a better deal by negotiating something in return for the wall rather than getting nothing if executive power is used. If it was me I would give up something to get some of the things I want rather than knowing that I will end up nothing. If I look bad by doing that, I still have to do the best I can do even if it's a bad situation.

I don't think politicians really think that way nowadays. They are content to win a battle even if it means losing the war.
