AP is common, especially in countries such as India.  There is no way to predict length of time for AP. There is nothing for you to do, unless you are/were requested to provide additional documents.

Our interview was Jan 18th, and we also got a 221g requesting more proof of relationship. Mumbai is by far the hardest place to interview! How would you say your interview went? Good bad?

Every case goes through some form of AP. Usually it's days,. sometimes weeks, rarely months, and very rarely longer.

Was any reason given? What is noted on the 221g?

Please do anyone know the success rate of AP ? Is majority of visas issued after AP?

Depends on the cause of AP. AP (even extended AP) itself is not a sign or signal of a denial vs approval. Some people are refused right away. Some are approved after over a year in AP for extended background checks. I wouldn't view any length of AP (short or long) as a negative factor in the end result.

@mangy, I am so sorry that you hve to go thru this stress. How can they say that the file is incomplete but not ask for any documents ? Have you tried contacting embassy to see if they would give you as a petitioner more info ? I’ll pray for everything to get resolved quick for you two. Can you think of any red flags in your case that might hve needed more documentation? This is indeed a stressful processs
