Such as?  The AOS?

Oh, that's fine.  I understand that.  I'm just talking about the K1 process at the moment.

You still have AOS when she arrives in the US which is over $1200. Not to mention other residual costs like the wedding, copies of marriage certs for AOS, postage and handling, and travel expenses. And during all of this, she will not be able to work for a while to help out.

Then before you know it ROC creeps up on you which is close to another $1000.

You are far from over my friend.

To be fair I don’t think the OP is complaining about legitimate fees to do with the immigration process like application fees. Everyone who gets into the immigration netherworld knows fees are part of what is.

His gripe seems to be more about unexplained fees which seem to crawl out of the woodwork.

In the PI the moment they "smell" an American the price goes up.  I was at the open market with my fiancee.  She tried to buy something that was marked with the price.   The seller saw me and took out her sharpie and changed the price right in front of us.

YMMV

I ship a package (at expense) and there is a fee at the door for delivery.  (1000 peso).  The embassy ships her P3 packet, and they charge fee for delivery (500 peso).

She pays Visa fee at the bank, and the bank charge her 500 pesos.

Why so many fees?

Also the bank teller told her she needs to open a bank account or they will deny the visa.  (She doesn't have a bank account)

Do I need to have her open a bank account?   Why was none of this ever explained before?  (I am very concerned about this bank account requirement)

With all due respect, I currently live here in the Philippines with my fiancé and I've been living here almost 4 years now.  So you are saying that you shipped a package from the US that you paid for on your end but when it arrived in the Philippines they made HER pay a 1,000 peso fee? and you are saying that the Embassy shipped her a packet and made HER pay a 500 peso delivery fee on delivery? and you are saying the BPI bank made her pay an additional 500 peso fee on top of the $265 US cost for the K1 visa? and you are saying that a teller told her that her visa will be denied if she don't have a bank account?  AGAIN, " with all due respect", I have never heard such a thing and YOU might be getting scammed.

Yea most of these "Fees" we didn't pay so not sure where she is getting this from.

There is no Packet 3 in the Philippines. You just do everything on your own.

I'd be more suspicious why all this extra money is being "charged", because none of us on here had to pay them haha

But then again this is "small" amounts compared to the process later in the US.

With due respect Sir, I sent packages for my mom from here in the US and there’s not a penny charge for delivery, when I paid for my embassy interview fee at BPI, it’s fix amount as to what the embassy requires, no additional cost/opening of account or whatsoever... I didn’t receive any P3, let alone pay for delivery fee.. it’s so strange that it all happened to your fiancée 🤔.. give heed..

Based on some of the responses here, it sounds like someone is trying to get a little extra cash from you.

The thing is its for k1 visa and theres so many of us been in this situation recently..we never heard of p3 or extra delivery fees unless not to be judge its just his fiance plan or idea to scam more money from her own fiance? Or it could be all misunderstanding in the process? We never know because every cases are different.

It might not be a P3.  It might just be a letter they sent.  I didn't see it yet. That could be mis-terming it.

I've been scammed by a cop down there for money for some violation I didn't do.  I wouldn't put it past people to scam her.  But that's my question right:  Are these "fees" legitimate or a scam?  I'll follow up to see if they were paid.  But ...

Curios as to how much money was requested to open a bank account.
