There is a lot of information out there if you search, but in summary, the Clinton campaign contracted a political research firm to conduct political opposition research that was done by a very Trump hating UK National with the help of their Russian contacts which resulted in what is being called the Trump Dossier.  Of course the Clinton campaign through their intermediaries passed this along to the FBI which was then dutifully used to obtain FISA warrants on Trump campaign folks and essentially kicked off this entire 2+ year Russian narrative.  All this is very well documented, but of course dismissed by the Left Wing media for the most part, or spun in such a way to not make it look so bad.  So this entire narrative has been spurred by political opposition research done for a presidential campaign materially by foreign nationals.  I guess it is ok when the Leftist do it.

That is a big paragraph to say : "The Clinton campaign colluded with Christopher Steele via Fusion GPS to produce a Dossier which was used to obtain a FISA warrant to start the "Russia investigation".

Here are some facts we do know:

Fusion GPS started their work under a Republican presidential campaign , the Clinton campaign picked up the work after the Primary.

The FISA warrants were in place before the FBI got a copy of the Steele dossier. Apparently the dossier was attached to a renewal of the warrant but didn't start the warrant and was not the only element supporting the warrant.

Steele was paid for his professional services so there was no donating of the dossier. This was not a foriegn gift or bribe.

Christopher Steele has said the document is less than 100% verified, and we don't have the final copy of the Dossier, but several items have been proven accurate.

This entire narrative was started by the bahavior of Trump team members which triggered investigations inside the US government.

When the Comey firing triggered the appointment of Mueller, these investigations were consolidated. Some of the items referenced in the Dossier have resulted in indictments, convictions and jail.

Yes, Fusion GPS did research work for the Washington Free Beacon during the GOP primary, but that ended when Trump became the presumptive nominee, their work for the Clinton campaign started well after that period and I don’t believe Christopher Steele was contracted during that period.  The fact is that the Clinton campaign used foreign assets to obtain material political research which I believe is unlawful, but based on your response you would give them a pass.  Btw, Bruce Ohr told the FBI that the material from Steele and his Russian contacts was dubious and that Steele had a political bias against Trump, but they still used it to get the FISA warrants.  Note, you are wrong, the FISA warrants were not in place prior to the FBI learning of the dossier.  As to what has been proven true from the dossier, please provide references.  Yes, the FBI used media sources along with the dossier to get the warrants, but those were actually the same thing since the media stories were sourced by Steele as well.

I am not lawyer and cannot determine what election law is.  It has been documented that the Clinton campaign was unaware of the Steele activities and that the material was not used in the Campaign...so what is the campaign violation?

Neither you or I have the final reports ,I am not a lawyer and we don't have access to the classified material that would prove/disprove the material.
