When looking online we found many paid Internships in Oregon.

Maybe for US citizens. Read about the intern visa and requirements. She will need to be sponsored by someone, can't just go to states and start the internship.

Yea I know that now after looking through the Intern Visa information. It looks like it would take quite a while to find a fitting position, get accepted and file the process for the J-1 Visa.

Unfortunately yea xD We were hoping that there was something simpler for spouses that we were just missing, that's why I decided to post here in the first place.

It’s only simpler for spouses if they already have a green card ...which yours doesn’t,  unfortunately the mere fact of being married to a USC confers no privilege regarding any work, student or other visa in the US. J1 is the way to go...

Nope, being a spouse doesn't give any privileges, besides being able to apply for the permanent residency, of course.

Yup, you're on the right path. J-1 would be the appropriate type of visa.

Yup, J-1 seems to be the best fit based on what was stated thus far.

For a J-1 application, married to a US citizen, you will most likely need to show convincing evidence of non-immigrant intent if you want to increase the likelihood of approval.  Any non-immigrant visa like a J-1 will be under scrutiny because the spouse is a USC.  This is because of the prevalence of visa fraud from so many people, coming to the US on a non-immigrant visa like F-1, J-1, then applying for AOS.  So be ready to show strong ties to return to Germany after the J-1 internship.
