Green card: Is name change necesary???

Hi everyone, prior to receiving my IR1 visa I was approved for DACA. When I married my wife I dropped my maiden name from my legal name and submitted a change of name for my DACA renewal and all went well and my name is how it is on my state ID as well.

 

With my IR1 process I had to get my mexican passport with my name as it appears on my birth certificate which has both last names. Long story short, my visa contains both last names. 

 

I went to the social security office and verified that my new card with no restrictions on it will have my current legal name. 

 

USCIS charges 460 dollars to change name on green card!!!!! Does it matter if I dont change it at all? Would I have an issue coming into the country if I go out for travel?

You don't need to change your name on your green card. 

 

Just be sure when you travel overseas that you also bring a copy of your marriage certificate as proof of the name disparity between the name on your passport and the name on your green card.

Day 341 (12/10/18) Interview was scheduled for 1/14/19

Day 376 (1/14/19) Interview

Day 385 (1/23/19) Denied

Day 400 (2/7/19) Denial revoked; N-400 approved; oath ceremony set for 2/14/19

Day 407 (2/14/19) Oath ceremony in Dallas, TX
