Available interview-date moving away super-fast

Ok, so long story short, due to some issue, I wasn't able to book the appointment-date for our k1 visa today but here's the thing, like 12 hours ago, I was seeing "First Available Appointment Is Friday February 1, 2019", & now, I'm seeing "First Available Appointment Is Friday February 22, 2019". Is this for real? I mean how is that all of those slots got filled so rapidly within hours? And, if this is how fast they typically get filled, then how in the world was I possibly able to see the date that I did earlier in the day? Can anybody clue me in on what's going on here? Is this "normal" somehow? At first, I was so happy that I was going to get a date about 3 weeks out but now, it's 6 weeks, & who knows what it will be when I actually get down to booking my appointment tomorrow.

It's for real.  Interview appointments are in very high demand.....especially right after the holiday season.

Book your interview and keep an eye on the appointments. It happens a lot that slots open up cause of the high demand so you might be able to change your interview date to an earlier date.

shutdowm has no affect so don't pay any mind to that.

embassies , interviews, uscis , nvc has no affect with shutdown. period.

normally there are 2 dates a month for K1 , the rest are tourist and other visa services, this is the case with Taiwan and its probably the same for many of the embassies which is why your seeing the 2 dates offered and one is already full, so book soon as you can if not then march will have 2 more dates available and all are first come first serve basis.

There was probably one available Feb 1 due to someone cancelling it and freeing it up, while the rest of the month was probably already booked up through the end... then someone grabbed the one appt on the 1st so the schedule normalized.

Also keep in mind that interview dates aren't filled up in order... people can choose the last day of the month over the first day of the month, and often do. Don't trust the "next slot available" to mean all of the interviews past that are also available.

I don't know because at first, I saw 1st Feb, then after a couple of hours, it went to 7th, then on to 15th after another couple hours, & of course, on to 22nd later on, so it went up sequentially rather than only one earlier slot opening up. Anyway, so I paid the fee a couple of hours ago, & now, the next available date has fallen back down to 7th Feb but I still can't validate the payment to book the appointment.

That's an interesting point. What's the thought-process behind preferring the end of the month?

Though one has to cancel one's existing appointment (& risk losing that too) to give another date a shot, right?

Yes its real bcz every friday mumbai consulate gives the appointment for k1 So it means max 4 appointments in a month and they give dates for just 2 months so it means till  march dates are available  , as you said 22 feb is available ill say book

it atleast you will reserve the appointment and there is one plus point as well that once your date is fixed for eg 22 feb you can reschedule it  if you get any early date but for that you have to be pro active and refreshing the page once the early date is there just reschedule it one date for ofc and one for interview .

in my case it worked i was getting the date of 22nd dec 2018 i was refreshing the website after every hour luckly i was able to see the 9th nov 2018 , lot of people reschedule but you have to be patient and active .

With respect to re-scheduling, if an earlier date opens up, like 9th November did in your case, does it NECESSARILY mean that it is available for BOTH ofc as well the interview. I'm asking because I wouldn't want to end up in a situation where I cancel both ofc & interview, after seeing an earlier date, & then I'm able to book the interview with an earlier date but ofc isn't available for an earlier date. So, did you cancel & re-schedule ofc first to avoid such a problem?

Did you use NEFT or cash-deposit at Axisbank/Citibank? I deposited the fee in Axisbank at around 10:30 today, still can't validate payment, even after 3 hours. Any idea how many hours it will take? I'm feeling very anxious because the next date has again moved up to 14th February.

I assume there might be fewer appointments around the holidays due to fewer staff and fewer working days    it's just a hunch.... but the fact is, there is a high demand (not sexist in any way) for interviews as evidenced by the number of posters who comment that appointments aren't available....take it or leave it.

Only cancel once you have booked the new appointment. That's how I did it in Amsterdam. Booked my interview, found an earlier appointment a few weeks later, booked that and after that I canceled my 'old' date. I don't know if it works the same in India, but in Amsterdam you pay the fees first and only after that you can schedule / re-schedule your appointment. That way you never have to pay the fees twice :)

When you reschedule the interview dates you have to select the ofc first and then interview date once reschedule is updated with new date take the printout of new appointment letter . While going for reschedule first off appear and you can clearly see the slots for the ofc what time for which date but you have to keep a gap betweeb ofc and interview you can keep 3 days gap . I did my ofc on 5th nov delhi and 9 th nov 2018 mumbai interview . If you think the ofc slots are not available while reschedule dont do it stick to the same date .

i made the fee payment at axis bank and 8hrs to 12hrs time to update the fee payment with their system
