Speaking of snow, the southern Minnesotans are complaining about the lack of snow. Ok, but they can still ice fish, so what dem der is tha problem?

Somebody, aka the Troll, went ice skating today.  Here is him sitting and just watching the big kids play hockey.  He said they were "awesome." I sense my dreams of becoming a hockey mom might come to fruition.

No snow for us. Nothing like cold enough for that. Just a miserable cold rain.

 

My former flatmate has been moved from the hospital to rehab. This time it is less than a mile from her house, instead of 30 k's across town. She actually likes the room, likes the view of the Waitemata Harbor out her window.  She says they have a decent library, and the food is edible, and that they do a proper afternoon tea. I hope she likes it enough to consider moving in eventually. So far so good, but she also said she has one week down, and three to go before she goes home. 

 

I am sending her a packet tomorrow, and I hope she retains her sense of humor. I've done her a Lost Souls shawl, which is simply rows and rows of skulls. At a quick glance it might look like any other little old lady shawl, but on anything like a close inspection, you cannot fail to see them. It suits her.  She has this loathing of people making assumptions based on appearance.

 

Quite a long time ago when we both worked in the same Comms Center in ALK, there was a discussion about that. One of the office ladies was complaining that she felt overlooked by most men on account of her weight. Aud, who even then had such severe arthritis she could not turn her head and had snow-white hair (which she had since she was 19) piped up. "Oh, I completely agree. People see me shuffling past, poor old lady that I am. The creaking that they hear they are attributing to these old bones, but little do they know it's simply my leather underwear."
