Lol, since when? My last infopass was October for a(nother) stamp and it was still working then.

What could possibly go wrong leaving that to CS 🤨

Since this week, actually. At least what I know of is NY.

You need to keep checking the infopass site, at odd times - midnight, 5am, 6am, 9am - especially on a monday morning -  until something appears. If you have to travel to a different area/city as that is the only appointment, then do so. Alternatively try a walk in once we hit february.

My honest advice would be to not bother with phoning them - many of them make it up on the spot, many are just plain wrong, and some lie.

This isn't the case in many places now. My wife had to send an online request to schedule an infopass appointment for the San Francisco field office last summer (and the USCIS website made it clear that appointments could no longer be made for that field office except via that online request form). To their credit, they replied within a day.

NY field offices (and several other States) stopped the whole "online infopass scheduling" stuff a couple of weeks ago.  Applicants now have to phone in to request an appointment, and if the person on the other end deems your reason worthy enough then you get one.  They are stopping walk-ins as well in NY, and other places.  The general idea is to move people  to use more online resources available to them for finding out information, finding out case status updates, etc.  Probably due to a lot of frivolous appointments bogging up the system, and in-person resources, is my guess.

I went online a week ago to try to snag an appointment to get a certified copy of my naturalization certificate done (which can only be certified by USCIS agents) ---got the same message as posted earlier in this thread.

I spoke to a nice lady, she said exactly that. I have to wait 30days before my gc expires to schedule it.

I’m really lost here, they just wont schedule the appointment. It’s a shame they can’t produce one document/notice in 2months time.

I also submitted a request online for non delivery of receipt, no response yet.

What I don’t understand and i hope you can clarify, is it a  uscis policy to schedule within 30days or not?

and are you saying to call now and schedule because other ppl have been able to schedule it before the 30day period for a passport stamp?

thank you

Their policy technically is 30 days before GC expires but even when one went for infopass 60 days before GC expired (when you were able to schedule your infopass), they would do it (or give you hard time, depends on the person). Now, they are just giving hard time because they have the control over infopasses. Plus, one officer is more understanding than the other, so it is sort of a gamble who you talk to.

Sometimes, you just can't win with them and that is why I always advise to call back.

Call again and explain, that you would like to schedule an infopass appointment after 17th because you are due for a stamp and you need to show proof to your employer. I don't know the process now but ask them, and also sort of demand, because they should be able to provide assistance .

So m, today i received a response for the service request i made on dec 26th. It’s a generic response which basically says that they recently sent the receipt notice and just to check that i’m registered with usps.

I thought they would send a courtesy letter when respondig to the service request.

Finally, got a call from someone in ny who understood my case and who explained that while she cannot schedule before the 30day she can schedule it within that time frame which is what i was trying to do the whole time.

Got a schedule for next week first day of the 30day window.

Knowing uscis they will send me an extension letter a day after i get the stamp.

I feel like I need to share the knowledge. They release the appointments exactly at midnight, i.e. Tuesday midnight will get you in on Tuesday in two weeks, at least in New York. If you go at 12-12:05am, you will be 99.9% able to book it. They release them in very short intervals - if you open the page at 12am and see 7:30am/7:45am/8am and you want 10am, just keep hitting refresh. My strategy is usually to book anything available and then hit refresh in reschedule mode.

Edit: this works in times other than the government shutdown, when they are closed completely.

Just an update to everyone. I was unable to check my case status online at what is now an old uscis website. I followed instructions posted on this site to check on the new uscis website and apparently my case was submitted dec 19th according to uscis even though my check was cashed dec 10th.

maybe the 19th is the date the vermont center got my app and dec 10th the dallas lockbox cashing the check.

Either way, i will reschedule my appointment closer to expiration date to give it time for extension letter to arrive

I don't think you need to reschedule, you can still go. They should give you a stamp.. 17 vs 19 is not a big difference

Do they give the stamp for a year or 18 months ? If it's 18 months then definitely I will go.

Hi, I have a hard time to get an Infopass appointment as well. Lately, a rep finally says someone from scheduling team will call me within 48 hrs, is that a normal procedure? Will they actually call me back? It's been almost 48 hours.....My husband has the experience but they never contacted us...
