Why put yourself through that again?  All the paperwork and the 10 day wait.  I hope they just do the ROM and renew their vows there.  The only difference is there won't be a second marriage license, which is probably a good thing.  For some reason I see polygamy charges and a difficult time to prove that he isn't actually married twice. LOL

@payxibka the thing is i live in remote province in the Philippines and when i was gathering my documents there for my k1 application my god government workers and church staff are just made me angry they suggest things that is not necessary that is why i learn to process most things online on my own..

 

But i think i know what to do with the church thing..i have a brothen in-law who works in our local church and know some priest i will ask him later..its actually its not just a renewal of vows for us but also a baptism of my nephew lol we will just gonna celebrate those 2 things at once, my sister cant afford the baptism so i guess priest will always be involve 😅😅

No good reason to go through that...I don't think anybody is suggesting one should.

I wasn't thinking bigamy or polygamy being an issue...just that reconciling all the paperwork later could turn into a decent hassle (i.e. ROM, marriage certificate(s) in the future, future spousal-based visas to the Philippines for the USC, etc.).

As what i remember from CFO seminar ROM is a must if you are a Filipino married with USC spouse and married abroad..specially if you want to recognize your marriage in Philippines..im sure the OP have an idea of what to do now.

My Fiancee and I are doing the same thing. We are putting on a "Ceremony" just so they can experience it and pay respect to her family. No legality, nothing of the sort. We are just hosting something where we will "Get married again", just to put on a show as I said.

The venue wont be in an expensive place Hank..im a.k.a. "kuripot" in spending money 😂😂 the expensive thing for that day would be the plane tickets for 3 people sigh

For the ROM our experience in Hong Kong was we took our original marriage certificate into the Filipino Consulate and with our other documents. They filed the form, returned our documents, and were told we could get the ROM Certificate in Manila in 2 to 3 months.  We had a relative pick up the Certified NSO copy for us and send it to us as we had moved to Mexico (a long story lol).  As others had said the second wedding is just a renewal of vows.
