Working without pay during shutdown, more TSA agents are calling in sick

Most Airport TSA locations are overworked and understaffed.  It's stupid to funnel 6 lines of people through 2 machines to scan them.

Already passed the House, and to my knowledge still a valid Bill. They can always discard it and vote on what Nancy and the Dems put forth that is lacking in border security.  I guess the Democrat Party is the Party of Open borders.

Well, we don't seem to have any solution for folks overstaying their Visa, does that make Republicans the party of open borders? No

Abscribing intent because folks disagree on the best way to solve a problem is a logical fallacy.

I see 3-4 working and 5-6 chatting in my 30 minutes through security, a far cry from overworked and understaffed

If we secure the Southern Border then they can devote more resources to combat visa over stays.

Permanent ban for violation of immigration laws and the end of the VWP would help deter both

From traveling thru the ATL I think hiring minorities is the goal. Of the 40 or 50 personal I saw, I did not see one caucasian.  I guess diversity is not important

I went through Chicago and it seemed like they were either on some weird power trip barking commands at everyone or had an IQ below room temperature. Hopefully it will be different when we fly to the Philippines this summer.

It won’t, trust me.

Some of THE WORST agents I have ever encountered work in ATL.  I swear they must attend a course on inhumanity to qualify to work there!

Ah well i see 4-5 front people and the 2 people staring at the monitors, 1-2 reminding idiots to remove their stuff and take out laptops and 2 screening each walk through (man and woman) regardless they never have efficient lines.   I suppose i assume understaffed if they seem to require 5 people per scanning machine and only 1-2 is open.

The Canadian version is way more efficient with less jerks on both sides.  People are filtered into efficient lines vs left to their own devices, which doesnt do anything to get you through any faster.

Rather like every lemming that takes the escalator vs walking down or up the stairs.  (Drives me batty when i HAVE to take escalators vs stairs.)

Precheck took me 30 mins.  Regular took my husband 50.  Why an FAA employee doesnt automatically get precheck is beyond me.

How the heck do people get all the way to the security line and still get pulled over for box cutters, water bottles, nail clippers, laptops in bags, shoes still on.    It's not that hard people....

It mystifies me how, at the bigger Houston airport, the TSA goons at the international terminal either can't speak or refuse to speak Spanish.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

All the TSA stories are interesting.  I guess DTW is a little different, never spent more than 15 minutes in a line even the non-Precheck line.  When they are at their busiest, they open up every lane and also funnel folks down to the international arrivals area where there is another screening point.  Most of the agents I have encountered have been personable.

Sure, that is your theory. There is no proof the wall will be effective in reducing traffic, cost effective to maintain or give us an ROI.

Just because my theory is that it will not be effective or cost effective does not make me a beliver in open borders.
