No one here would be able to tell you exactly when your ceremony will be, or how long you may have to wait.

If the court in your jurisdiction only does judicial oath ceremonies once a month, it all depends on how many people are ahead of you who need to be fitted into a judicial ceremony slot first.  That's the pitfall of the name change...it potentially delays things for you at the oath ceremony stage.  Hopefully you will hear something sooner, rather than later.

Well good luck in getting in quickly, then---hope you hear something soon.

What does your online status say?  Does it say anything about being inline for your oath ceremony to be scheduled?

They may not give you this information over the phone due to security reasons, but you can try calling.  If they put you in line, you just have to wait for those in line ahead of you---that's why I'm surprised the IO told you it would be only a month....especially since you said earlier that judicial ceremonies in your city happen only once a month.  Generally, judicial ceremonies have a bit longer of a wait time than administrative ceremonies....but anything's possible, though.

The good news is that you're in the queue, though.

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

Congratulations on the super quick processing of your application.

I'm about to file my own N-400 application and have a related question for you if I could please. I am married to a US citizen and I have now met the 3 yr rule for residing in the US. However, I noted that in the Form G-1151 (Thinking About Applying for Naturalization) there is a dot-point requirement stating:

Show that you have been physically present in the United States for 30 months. (In some cases, this may be 18 months if you are married to a U.S. citizen.)

Due to the inclusion of the term 'physically present' above, I am reading this as meaning that I need to show a continuous 18 month period (that falls within my 3 years residing in the US) where I did not leave the US at any time. For instance - even a weekend trip to Canada or Mexico would reset the 18 month clock. Did you find this requirement applicable to your situation, or can you make comment on this from your experience?

Please note that, according to Form G-1151, this is a separate requirement to the 3 year residency requirement.

Many thanks for any advice.

It is not continuous.  The physical presence period means you have to have been physically present in the US for at least 18 months IN TOTAL during the previous 3 years before filing.

The continuous residency period means that you continued to maintain where you live in the USA as your permanent residence during the past 3 years before filing (you traveled on vacation to Mexico/Canada/elsewhere for short periods, but you didn't actually set up residence there).

Thank you for that. In my continuing search of the forum since I posted above, I found similar confirming advice that it is 18 months in total in the previous 3 years. Many thanks for your input.

Also when you are filling in your travel history (just in case you are already close to the maximum number of days allotted outside the country), the day of entry and the day of exit are NOT included in the total ---- those two days count as days in the US since you were still on US soil at least part of each of those two days.  Just a tip, if you find yourself close to being "over",  thinking you had to add those exit/entry dates... not sure how much you've traveled over the past 3 years :)

All good. Have only been out of the US for about 4 months all up (spread over 4 trips) out of the previous 36 months. But good to know. Cheers.
