I am not in any way saying that the system is unfair or that I couldn't have looked up every processing time and detail beforehand but I still think that it is an incredibly dumb and inefficient system. It isn't good for society as a whole or for the individual but it is what it is I guess.

Again, you are still looking at this in an unreasonable way. Yes, there are some dumb things and inefficient things about the immigration system but if you know how the machine (immigration machine) actually works you can play it to your advantage despite the inefficiencies.

I'm sure the Gov't knows there are inefficiencies in the system but unfortunately that's just the way it is right now until things change. Why do you think Congress has been debating immigration reform for the last decade with no progress in sight? The answer is the US immigration is a big beast of a system.
