EAD...when is to soon to inquire?

We are on day 140 since my husband's EAD application changed to "case received". He applied for the AP/EAD combo with adjustment of status. When is to early to send in an inquiry about his case? I know it's all about patience and waiting our turn it's just we really want to move forward for us. Main reason is his license is about to expire and we can't renew it until he can provide his EAD or Green card, we really want to buy a home to get out of our little cramped apartment, and he can't even be added to my bank account until he has the EAD or Green card (just their silly policy because his ss# is so new). I could go on and on but I was just hoping to seek y'alls advice first. I was considering sending in an inquiry mid January if I still haven't heard anything.

Is this a bad idea? Good idea? I don't want to seem pushy we would just like to know. We feel like we're in limbo with our life right now and it's a horrible feeling (which I'm sure most of you are all to familiar with). Also, we've received no updates at all apart from his AOS case. We got an email stating we're in line for an interview. I have no idea if this is why it's taking our EAD a bit longer or what.

Thanks in advance for any helpful answers!

Timeline

EAD is taking around 6 month in some cases. I wouldn't start an inquire till February, because you will probably get the same answer as other have received...."your case is not outside normal processing time".

As for AOS, once they put "interview has been scheduled" is what you want to have. Don't pay much attention to other timelines, since some get AOS faster than EAD and some EAD before AOS. It's a lottery, literally. We waited not to long after EAD and our interview has been scheduled. We are waiting for the USCIS letter.

Good luck

EAD is about 5-7 months now. Personally, calling them is a waste of time since they'll tell you the same thing as what online says.

Depending on your local FO, AOS is fast.

My FO is so back logged that I'm expecting an interview 2020, lol.

AOS from h2a visa, marriage based.

Ours is Atlanta and I don't think they're exactly fast. It says on the USCIS site wait time for an interview is 13-26 months. Most cases I see on here people usually have their interview at about 13 months. Who knows. I just hope we hear something about his EAD soon.

I made an inquiry on my husband's EAD renewal after 180 days and it's not yet assigned for processing. My husband already had the interview so technically we are waiting on the Green Card now however who knows what will come first. According to the processing times on uscis.gov I was already eligible to make a request so I thought why not bug them little.

Yeah I don't see the big deal in inquiring. Worst that could happen is they tell me I'm in normal processing time and the best maybe it'll help push it through.

You could try to expedite his EAD with a job offer, or for severe financial loss, since you are trying to buy a house.

All the criteria are found here: https://www.uscis.gov/forms/expedite-criteria

It is a gamble but you have nothing to lose at this point.

Good luck

I may honestly do that because I've had people in my family offer to help him get jobs where they work. It's worth a try I suppose.
